All,

Just to inform you that we have completed our work on the submission tool which allows us to process your uploads much faster and easier than previously.  We are very honored to feature Ron Chapple  (iofoto)  as a new member.

We have also have slightly updated our home page to give a better idea of the images available. Take a look an give us your feedback.

On the buyer side, we have streamlined the user experience in order to make the purchasing process even easier. They already can easily find your images thanks to the auto-suggest feature  purchase your images in any currency with any major credit card, and soon, will have an advanced search feature that is quite impressive. But more on that later..

A lot of our traffic continues to be from referrals worldwide. A lot of our members have added the search box feature to their sites and are making extra money. 10 % on images that sell on average at $20 is a nice income...
You can also give it a go at : http://www.zymmetrical.com/art/affiliates/

We look forward to seeing your latest work and getting your feedback.

Sincerely,

Paul M

Site is loading a bit slow. And the last time I tried using FTP it wasn't working. I rechecked my password and username twice. Anyway, I'll upload some of my top sellers on other sites manually to see if they get any sales.

have had a dozen images awaiting approval for about 4 weeks so I'll be excited to see what happens.

ZymmMan,

The auto-suggest feature is really neat.  DT is using it also and I believe it also helps buyers type the right spelling...

I think I suggested it before, but would it be possible to let us set prices when we upload, and not only after approval?  This way new images would be ready once they're approved.

Regards,
Adelaide

About the FTP;   it runs fine and then a week later seems to have issues. Still trying to isolate that one.

Madelaide, as I often say to Paul : "Why not..".  Such enhancements are literally just a couple minutes of programming time. If you really think it's advantageous, we could add a 'preferred price' next to each file input and/or in the Submissions Manager.

The only issue with encouraging people to do work upfront before files are approved, is that we don't want to waste their time if the files are ultimately rejected.  Assigning a price doesn't take much out of your life, but as we are reminded daily with developing this business, every click counts.  No one wants to be in the retirement home thinking about all those  images they priced, just to have had them rejected..  ;D

PS. Theres currently a second or two delay on the autosuggest, we are working to cache this data so it comes up instantly.

I agree with Keith  with setting the price before the images are accepted.

Xeniall,

Your images are there. We have not published them yet because we want to preserve your German keywords. You can ask Keith, I have been on his case daily to get them published as I find them very good. As you might have read, we have been busy in changing the submission tool and had to stop editing for a little while.
I will check with him to see why you do not see them and resolve this as quickly as possible. I am a big fan of your work and cannot wait for our image buyers to see them.

Adelaide,

We price the images based on our experience of the market. Since it is not an absolute science we welcome your input. Our approach is to give you an "indication" that you can adjust at any time.

Hope that helps..

best

XeniaII, I checked your account and all submissions are indeed there.  As mentioned in some previous messages, we do not expect people to do keywording or other work on files before they are approved, as they can be potentially rejected (not that your submissions look like they will have this problem).

The only thing holding things up is your IPTC keywords are in German.   Our approvals system is just becoming stabilized this week, so all the 'bonus' features like hot swapping the language in the keywords is the next step. In the next couple days you should see your photos move.

grue,
Keith

Well that is part of our job description. We have 8 locales / languages on the site:

English - http://www.zymmetrical.com/art/photos/photos-people-active/fileid/zyimgpla00447/
Dutch - http://www.zymmetrical.nl/art/photos/photos-people-active/fileid/zyimgpla00447/
French - http://www.zymmetrical.fr/art/photos/photos-people-active/fileid/zyimgpla00447/
German - http://www.zymmetrical.de/art/photos/photos-people-active/fileid/zyimgpla00447/
Italian - http://www.zymmetrical.it/art/photos/photos-people-active/fileid/zyimgpla00447/
Polish - http://www.zymmetrical.pl/art/photos/photos-people-active/fileid/zyimgpla00447/
Spanish - http://www.zymmetrical.es/art/photos/photos-people-active/fileid/zyimgpla00447/

and.. top secret prototype: Chinese - http://www.zymmetrical.cn/art/photos/photos-people-active/fileid/zyimgpla00447/

so, we do our best to translate the keywords into all these languages. When the photos come with a different language it just makes a couple extra steps in the process.  Nothing extreme, we just needed a bit more time to adapt to that dimension. By Monday we will be able to hot-swap English, French, German, and Italian on the incoming IPTC data.

Keith,

Three minor bugs (if we can call them bugs):

- when I log in, I type my ID in one field and the TAB doesn't take me to the password field
- when I log in, the earnings show as $5 when in fact they're $4.9 as seen in other pages; also would be more elegant to have the two decimal digits
- still about decimal digits, the monthly report showed something like $4.90000

Adelaide

Thanks for that, I will get that fixed. I thought we nailed the decimal point problem earlier but I guess not.

Cheers,
Keith

I would just like to have some image reviews.
Pictures I uploaded on 10th October are still waiting review. I emailed support, but they just said be patient. I think I have been extremely patient. >:(

Clivia, i'm truly sorry but we are working through the queue in the order submissions have come in, and mixing in selected newer ones here and there to keep the flow of new files coming online interesting.  As much as submissions approvals has been improved on the technical side, there is still careful time spent by the editors to make sure the quality is there.  We will able to bring on more staff to do this soon but right now we are focusing on making things right and not just fast.

P.S. FTP Uploads are back . Today was spent gutting the system and installing a new FTP server which (better be) more stable. Please login using the info described under 'FTP Uploads' on http://www.zymmetrical.com/account/submissions/photos/.  Thanks for everyones patience with this and please let us know if it's acting strange again.

No problem thanks for your patience.

Yesterday we also improved our keyword/tag search a lot:    our search now does 'word breaking' which means that when you search for 'Happy' it will now match to 'Happier' , 'Happiness', etc.         It takes apart the word to the root level and returns a ranked set of the word variations.

Example: The search http://www.zymmetrical.com/tag-search-results/tag/happier/
returns
http://www.zymmetrical.com/art/photos/photos-abstract/fileid/zyimgabs00202/

in it's results. If you look at the tags for that photo, only 'happy' is included. Now this may not be revolutionary or anything,  but it's a nice step forward for us.  Next in line is thesaurus synonym matching in the search.

P.s. This also is done for all the languages on our site:
http://www.zymmetrical.de/tag-search-results/tag/schreibst/

will return 'schreiben' as a match on:
http://www.zymmetrical.de/art/photos/photos-objects-miscellaneous/fileid/zyimgobx00189/

Now..   no set of keywords is perfect and I can always find some incorrect ones if I poke around: we also have a community flagging/editing system coming soon so we can collectively pick out the bad ones.
