O.K., I have set up WP and installed the Symbiostock theme. Looks like it's all working so far.

But since I've never worked with WP before, I sometimes feel completely lost. I hope somebody will be able to leave some pointers to my questions.

1. How do i change the text on the image page "Stock image by [MY EMAIL ADDRESS]" from my login email to my actual name? I've tried all different user/profile settings already but WP won't let me change the user name field.

2. How to substitute the standard Symbiostock user avatar on the image page to an author image?

More questions coming soon.

1.  Not entirely sure about this and do not fully understand question but it might be
Users
All Users
click on edit under your name
  scroll down
 Create nickname
use that nickname

2. bit lower down on the same page, create your "personal photo"  150 x 150 pixels, upload it and add link.  Scroll to bottom of page and save

1. That's exactly the problem. I can fill anything I want into the fields
- First Name
- Last Name
- Nickname
- Display name publicly as

but it won't change the image page text. On the image page it will always list my login email address (which is also the default user name).

2. I'm sorry but I can't find any "create your personal photo" link on that page.

It is the first link under
Symbiostock Profile and Extended Network Info

Create your photo and upload it
add the url to the box
save

I'm sorry, I'm trying really hard to follow but I can't find the links "Symbiostock Profile" or "Extended Network Info".

When I click on Symbiostock in the vertical nav bar on the left side, I get
- Network
- Settings
- Author Options
- Marketing
- Symbiostock Help

No "profile".

When I click "All Users" in the User section, I get this user table and I can click
- Add New
- Your Profile

Can you provide a screenshot?

I really appreciate your efforts to help.

It is in Users, Profile but I have just had a thought.  Do you have the Network activated in the Symbiostock Bee section, first tab.  If not I do not think it will show up

No, not yet. I don't want to activate the network before I'm not ready to actually show some content.

I just found out that the user settings, no matter what you change, will not "update" image pages. However the new settings will apply when you upload and process new images. That explains why I couldn't see any changes on the current image page.

I "think" if you activate but do not link to anyone or have them link to you you will be okay - try it and see if the rest of that page shows up so you can complete it

Yes, that worked. A lot more options are showing up. Thanks a lot.

How can I turn that "Leave a comment" function off?

I already unchecked "Allow people to leave comments on new articles" in the Discussion settings but that didn't make the comment submission form disappear.

I want only static pages and no discussions on my site.

You probably turned off the one for posts (blogs) not pages ?  If so go to Symbiostock bee , Author Options tab and about half way down is an option to turn comments on and off.

I leave mine on but since I added a couple of plug ins to discourage spammers the only comment I have had is a real one on my blog.

At the location you're describing I can only find "Image Comments" but this option is disabled and that's not what I meant.

I meant I just want to create a simple homepage with some text and without the option for other people to leave comments. Just a simple static page without visitor interaction.
