Forgive me for my complete ignorance but a privacy policy is a different thing than the EULA correct?

Yes, this is a separate category of legalese that pertains to your website's use itself I believe.

This is actually quite fascinating. I'm going to look into it a bit more.

Thanks, Anita, for sharing.

It's all fine and dandy (not that I want to be the negative element in this thread) but this website does not allow us to copy the generated policy onto our web sites.

The customized policy has to be inserted into the page through a script.

I can see that they wouldn't provide such a service for free but I really don't want to rely on their servers and certainly don't need more 3rd parties collecting information about my site.

When I was looking at it last night in order to add paypal to it you'd have to upgrade to their pro plan.  Didn't know about them hosting it though.

Hi there everyone, I've tracked many sign ups back to this page and I thought I'd address a few questions.

@Anita Potter, @Leo: a privacy policy is a legal document that addresses some disclosure needs stemming from privacy laws. In short, if you collect and process data on websites, mobile apps you need to tell your users.

A bit more can be learned here newbielink:https://www.iubenda.com/en/privacy-legal-requirements [nonactive]

@stockphoto-images: with a PRO license you can actually just link to the policy (if you are concerned about using the script), the embedded policy can be made to look exactly like the rest of the site. I can assure you, we do a lot to make sure the policy has a maximum uptime. Also the main reason for us to host the policy ourselves is that we can make sure that way to keep the policy relevant without you having to touch anything. It allows us to keep the text legally relevant.

Most policies basic policies are free, we require a fee for more complicated ones (which also allows us to provide the highest quality product). Here's another list of things that should clear up why we host the policies ourselves and why we charge for some newbielink:https://www.iubenda.com/en/features [nonactive]

@DF_Studios: we started iubenda because we were frustrated by the lack of professional products. Most things that were there before, was out of date, outright wrong or didn't comply with European privacy laws (which is what we base our policies on).

Hope this helps to get some questions answered, we're always happy to help on newbielink:https://getsatisfaction.com/iubenda [nonactive] and at info at our domain.

Simon :)
