I don't know what happened but my search seems to be taking really long to load on my site.  I don't notice this on other sites using their search to see if it's my ISP and it's not.

Not sure what I can do to get that to perform better as I don't think it's the network that's slowing it down.

Can someone check to see if they see if it takes a long time to load after searching?  The link's in my signature.

Thanks.

Anita

Instant for me! First search takes a few seconds and once its cached the same search is much faster.

Okay wonder what's going on then.  When I search the same term a second time it took just as long.  Might be a browser setting or something I have.  I'll check it in Firefox to see if I get the same for me.

It's your hosting or internet service provider having a downtime I think.. pretty sure it's not symbiostock..

Sometimes there are DNS clashes that cause these kind of issues but again it's just my guess and I am in no way an authority on this..

It's a little quicker with Firefox so it has to be something I've set in my IE browser options.

I was wondering since my bounce rate on Google Analytics was high so I thought it might've been affecting people browsing the site.

I'll just carry on then.

The exact same thing happened to me a few months ago and it was resolved on it's own in a few days..

That gives me some hope then that it will correct itself.  I noticed it sometime this past week and it hasn't fixed itself yet.  I wonder if I should flush my DNS or wait a few more days.

OK, just did a search for girl and it took 1 second. But you will always see varying results.

Then I'm not sure what's happening with it.  Baffling is what it is.  Wasn't like that before.

Timing is affected by this:

  • Keyword is searched. Site builds cache for that page (AJT's implementation due to obvious network lag)
  • Second time keyword is searched, results are instant (due to cache)
  • Depending on how long your cache is set to last for, it may reset after 14 days or so repeating 1 and 2

I remember seeing my cache set at 14 days unless it's not actually caching?

I've added some timepoints to symbiostock.com  global searches.     selection is quite fast getting a list of images that fit the query) , so the display accounts for most of the time used.    'display' has to read each record and format it to the html webpage.  it's also more likely to be influenced by other traffic, etc.
