Have you set a new sitemap to google after your changes?

I've been waiting to send a sitemap to Google until I finished revamping all the images currently up on my site (about 700). After those are done, all new ones added will be right as soon as they get there.

Does this make sense? Or would I be better off sending the sitemap on even though many of the permalinks are going to be changed?

To me, it seems to make sense to get those done correctly before I submit the whole thing to Google (and Bing), so that's what I'm doing. Hope that's the right strategy.

Advice to those just starting your sites: get Yoast and do SEO right from the get-go. It's very time consuming to redo hundreds of images after the fact.

If your permalinks are going to change, i would hold off. If you send them now and they are indexed, when you change the permalink you will get 404 page not found errors. Meaning if a client finds your image on google search and goes to see it, the page wont be there.


 I did this early on...decided to add "stock photo" to all my permalinks so went back and did a few. Takes another couple of weeks or more for them to get re-indexed. If you were only going to change a few, i would say send the map. But if most of your port is going to change, my opinion is to wait.

Any idea what should I do and why is google deindexing?

If you are changing stuff due to seo, resubmit site map

I haven't changed anything. Can it be due to a lot of outgoing links from our Symbio pages.  I remember Ron mentioning about it in one of the thread

I am no expert, but i dont think you should worry about the exact numbers, mine are 1080 one day, 960 the next and 1120 the third, i think google reindex them all the time. As long as the number does not fall off the cliff, i guess it's normal for it to go up and down a little.

It has reduced from 138 to 123. I think it is probably due to the fact that I have some images that have similar name and almost identical keywords as pointed above. Will have to rework

Do you have any particular advise on how to set up Yoast, or did you go with the standard settings it comes packed with?

I've gone with the standard settings. Didn't know there were other options.

That's my reason for not sending the sitemap right now. Not until all the images currently up are fixed per Yoast. Because, yes, I am changing the permalinks. Have to!

Once those are all fixed, I'll submit the sitemap. New images uploaded after that will all be done correctly.

Yes I do have. Is there a way to check what has been dropped by google. So I can fix those instead of gong through all the images

I've seen the same with de-indexed page and image count. Google does remove duplicates and I do have a couple that ended up with the same info. I found info somewhere on the Google Webmaster page that listed the duplication errors with links to the page. I'll search for that later when I'm on my laptop and post how to find that.
