Alright, I'm actually set up now!

Added your site to http://symbiostock.info already, but your author page is missing.

I'll have to work on getting that back. I may have deleted it early in my setup process.

just took a quick look and there are 28 sites with 2 or fewer (20 with 0) network sites

http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=52

even if you're just starting to think about your network, it's worth adding other sites to start building cross traffic - you can always change them later

Are you just looking for food illustrators only or just other illustrators?

I'd go with other illustrators too. With my site's keywords, food and vector images are the most likely to show up, on the image pages. Mostly, I'm looking for anyone where our sites would complement.

http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=65  shows other illustrators, though there are 25 asites lacking any focus or specialty info

your photo topics: General Photography to include Travel, People, Landscape, and Products. I have loved Photography for a long time and I am just getting started in stock.
what  you're looking for: Other sites with a mix of topics.

I am just getting started in stock and looking to build a good portfolio over time. I started to build a portfolio a couple years ago submitting to 123RF, Dreamstime, Fotolia, Bigstock, and Canstockphoto but had to put down the camera for a couple years. I learned a lot submitting to those sites and look forward to building a good quality Symbiostock site.

So critiques are always welcome. I think I can take it, lol   :)

Thanks
Tim

Welcome, Dean! I'm glad to see you here and happy to have you already in my network. Thanks for adding me to yours as well.  :)

Your images are beautiful, and your portfolio will be a fine addition to SYS.

Great images! Excellent portrait of the gorilla. And love the macro of the dandelion. Nice work and welcome to Symbiostock!

I also like your watermark...you have solved the problem of it showing up on both light and dark photos. I have been having that problem and am going to change mine to accomplish what you have.

Wow, thank you all for the warm welcome.  I feel a bit intimidated looking at the quality of your portfolios but I am really looking forward to sharing the Symbiostock network with all of you.  I am pretty much a one-trick-pony in that I love to do landscapes/nature but I have no clue about how to do decent portraits, isolations, and other stock techniques.    I am more than ready to learn, however.  I already have been helped immensely by Martha who pointed me to this thread.

As for the watermark, the first one I made was white and I noticed immediately a problem with invisibility against light backgrounds so I just duplicated it, changed it to black, offset it slightly from the white logo, and finally combined the two layers.  Very easy to do in Photoshop, even if you are like me and know next to nothing about graphics, vectors, etc.

Cheers,
Dean

You have Nextgen plugin installed and it disables public image info, so your images won't be indexed in external search engines, like symbiostock.info or symbiostock-search.com. Maybe this problem will be solved in next Symbio versions, but now you have alternative: Nextgen or global search :)

Thanks, I had no idea.  I was just playing around with Nextgen but wasn't really using it so I have disabled it.  Is that all I need to do to get back on the global search?

Thank you very much for adding me.  In order to re-run the images do I just run 'reprocess' using the bulk image settings or do I hit the 'update' button at the bottom of the Symbiostock tab with 'Update public image info' checked?

Wonderful.  So do I just periodically do the 'Update public image info' routine for subsequent image file uploads to make sure that my images show up in the search?

That's what I do.  After upload and editing and category selection.  Once I'm finished with it either for the night or finished completely I update.

Welcome to the SY world :)

*edited to add*

It updates on it's own once a day.  But I'll still manually update it.

Site does it once  a day, you should get emails with "Site has updated image and network" message, but of course you can do it manually too.

Welcome aboard!  You have a wonderful site.  I was particularly drawn to your stunning sunrise and sunset images - just breathtaking.  I like how you have instructions on your homepage too.  I think many of the Symbiostock customers will not be the typical stock image buyer and instructions will be helpful.   I need to add an instruction area on my site too.

what  you're looking for: nice photographers to link to in the network

my symbioshop is online for sometime now;
after doing it over and over a few times, but that gave me a big learning in the program.
still have some problems now: how to get away the "blog" option in the searchbar (followed the symbio-instructions but not good yet; the watermark used to refresh automaticly after changing it, but not now anymore; and of course: how to network; that is why I post this reply.

kind regards, Sndor Gra from The Netherlands
