ImageMagick Test Release

https://github.com/orangeman555/symbiostock/blob/master/symbiostock.zip?raw=true

This is a quick test release in consideration of those who have been dealing with memory related issues (gd library). It switches between ImageMagick (imagick, php) or gd library depending on your server's capability. Hint - you want ImageMagick :D.

- Note - This does not fix IPTC yet - its just to test the initial changes in image processing.
- Note - I will also be seeing if I can improve its color use, allowing AdobeRGB / sRGB conversions.

If this throws any errors or does anything unexpected, just revert back. Unlike the first days when I released this theme and did tons of work and improved it, now I have a very large set of improvements in the making - not including this - so hence you've been waiting a while.

Important: If you want to use imagemagic easily, here is what Bluehost customer support told me ...

Hi,

To enable imagick you would just need to add the following line of code anywhere in your php.ini file(s):

extension=imagick.so

Good luck.

Have installed latest version (and edited php.ini) but not sure what it does .  Improved image processing - faster, sharper ??  Or just aimed at Godaddy users?

I seem to have some issue uploading vertical (portrait) images. The thumbnails used to be generated being 149 pixels high.

After this update the portrait images are being generated 225 pixels high. I don't care too much for that if I wouldn't be using the newest images feature because the new thumbnails are significantly bigger and therefore cause formatting issues.

The image width of the horizontal (panorama) thumbnails is still the same and totally ok.

Can someone confirm this issue?

Now I see the difference - yes they are bigger and the thumbnail images uploaded after the latest version have reflections

Have reverted to 1.3.3 for now

Hmm, I'm still using the default thumbnails with the rounded edges and there are no reflections for me...

It was late...I didn't get a chanceg to explain everything. Turn off reflections in author area. They are being developed still.

less memory intensive and uses better software.I just get tired of seeing uploaded/crash threads. I believe it will also be smoother in certain cases.

Here you go, a correction on imagemagick resizing of thumbs (being too long) and also an upload area fix that I overlooked

Not that I'm not happy to hear a good report (thanks a lot)- I especially want to know if the people with tighter environments are seeing improvements too :D

No, I'm not a Godaddy person.

I'm a Hostgator person if that's of any help?

I think they are similar. Can you do a gigantic batch upload of tank-sized pics of a quadrillion megapixels each like everyone else has been trying to?

Hi Leo,

I updated to the last version and I noticed that on my last images the thumbnail fro vertical images are quite big. You can have a look at my front page aseanphotostock.com to check
Cheers:)
