Well , I just got few rejections for boats , one rejection for a small wooden boat , one for sail boat at open sea.

Do we need a property release for boats on open sea from now on ?

Well I found hundreds of them in the search engine , I saw cruisers , tankers , etc , and I doubt that all of them have property release , at least I'm sure for all of mine that were previously approved without any.

They have started rejecting all by boat shots as well for no property release. Also all my building shots, even when its a small part of the building. Seems like most of my images are not going to be available on this site at this rate.

Apparently, you need a release for a picture of a rock, if the owner of the rock could identify it.

Just another reason never to be exclusive with any site. I bet there are many other sites that will take your boat shots.

It seems a little strange to me that after drastically changing the "rules" on what you can't submit without a property release, they don't do anything about these "problematic images" currently existing in their database.

Istock on the other hand, announced that they plan to begin deleting/deactivating files based on their current big 4 "problematic" files (cars, cruiseships, etc)

Aha , and I thought that it was a mistake

Well , Is it really our fault that some stoned skipper gets in our shot with his boat every time
we are trying to take a photo of a beautiful seascape.

That one time I was trying to shoot a beautiful rural landscape at sunset time , and I wanted a sharp shot , so I was going with long exposure , but while the camera was shooting , someone suddenly built a skyscraper and few factories in the middle of my shot.

Next time , I used f 2.8 and ISO 1600 but I got a noise refusal.

Im just thinking , how the things are going , in close future I will maybe find the way how to get some releases from few skippers in their speeding boats , but someone will have a hard job to teach penguins how to sign a model release.

You could use your own rocks. But then you'd need a release from the GUY that made the rock. And somehow, I don't think that's gonna happen.

I've been on the fence with StockXpert, what with their weird reviews, rejections and now going over the top with releases for everything from soup to nuts. I think it's about time to bail and concentrate on the real money makers (for me at least), SS, IS, DT and BigStock. Also get more up on Alamy to help my odds there.

was the boat ID number visible? if so i am guessing that would ahve been the reason. Try taking it away with a clone tool.

I don't see how they can reject photographs of buildings. That would cut their library enormously. Are you sure there wasn't a sign or something on the building?

Anyway ... in most western countries (certainly in the UK and here in Switzerland) most photographs taken from public land need no property release. (I know ... there are exceptions like the London Eye).

I´m also have rejections from boats! And they don´t have any ID numbers visible. If they (microstock sites) go this way, some day they don´t accept nothing!!!!

No , the numbers are not visible , and I had similar photos approved before , so I'm thinking if they have a policy to not accept photos like that for some law questions or something , wouldn't it be logical to remove all similar photos without a release from the gallery ?
