Today i've got a bunch of sales with $0.26 commission. Is anybody aware what they are? I don't remember getting anything less than $0.38 since 2008!

Yes, so did I - and I noticed that on the little map on the contributor page, each of those sales is shown as an unknown location for the buyer. New license type? I hope not!

Steve
I have two sales with unknown location, one is 0.38, the other 1.33
So I am not sure that there is some direct relation with your 0.26 sales.

I don't see the map any more (I changed my link to go directly to the earnings chart after the most recent daft changes to the contributor home page) but I have four "no location" sales, all SOD.

Three are for $1.33 and one is for $0.78. So there's probably some new program or discount offer.

SOD payouts (for photos) are at 20%, 25%, 28%, or 30%. I get SODs fairly regularly that are at 38 cents, which would be 26 cents at the 20% rate.

The $1.33 SOD royalty would be 88 or 89 cents at a 20% payout. 78 cents would be 52 cents at 20% royalty.

Earlier in the month there was a 43 cent SOD royalty (but I have no idea if it was no location showing or not and can't go back)

There is a thread in the SS forums - so other people have seen the 26 cent amounts - but no answers yet

That's why I said in another thread that SS (and also AS) "somewhat" guaranteed a minimum commission. This type of sale (with lower than your rank's commission) appears from time to time for me.

I 've got one this morning. After contacting them, SS replied quite quickly to say that :

Hi Thomas
I'm ****** and I'm a Shutterstock contributor and expert user.
I do not have any access to your images, account or any of your personal data but I am here to help with answers to your questions.
Shutterstock occassionally runs offers on its sites and this is reflected in these smaller amount sales.
Its nothing to worry about and shouldn't happen too often, you will continue to be paid for normal downloads at your normal rate.

"shouldn't happen too often" >:(

unfortunately my prediction is coming true .sooner than what i thought...the cause? i already explained it's getty...they are killing this business with premium access connect...practicaly giving free image for a feed amount and passing penny to contributor.....ss and above are being forced to pull down prices t...next year will see more, probably we end up like getty with  lower royalty and lower commission...same for video, 1,5 now is the exception soon will be the rule....this business is finished in 2016. the problem is that most of contributor who upload right now are form russia and country where even 700 dollar make a good living....that's wy they d0nt care of lowering commission..they will always find somebody who upload files, even if they cut royalty to 10 cent. likely seems cavanimags and offset for me are picking up good royalty this month. if only stocksy accepted me next time, i will not produce anymore content for micro stock.

I had 30+ of these in a row on Christmas and boxing day.
Im in the higher tier commissions so its well under the $0.38 id expect.

All the same, location unknown.

I got out of SS years ago and my cheery thought for 2020 is this: we've now seen every sort of crazy, senseless activity there,  it only gets worse over time.  Surely it's possible that their basic accounting is full of loopholes and your photos are ending up being used by Big Important Customers via transactions in which you're not even getting a penny. And how would you ever know?

Love the reply they gave Thomas From France: "It's nothing to worry about and shouldn't happen too often." OK. I feel better now.

I understand and lately I (and many others) are truly getting fed up with SS and their ways but I wonder who do you still supply?
Because without SS there is not much left no? I have quit all the low earners (with some even bringing in almost 25 bucks a month) and now I am only providing AS, SS, AL and P5.

Obviously one cannot continue complaining while continue supporting them with uploads. I have already removed hundreds of images from my SS port and will continue to do so and I have stopped uploading since december 1st. And yes if you are wondering AS and AL are picking up sales on those images. My RPD is also higher at AS (euro)
Still, SS brings in a bit of money. With a 2k port I still outperform many with 5000, 10000 or more although my earnings have dropped to 1/3, sometimes even 1/4 of what I used to make or better yet should  be making.

To me SS feels like they let their staff do pretty much whatever they want as long as the money rakes in. It all feels uncontrolled and that shows in sales, lack of support, incompetent reviews and what not. Though I am sure they are already starting to feel the negative effect of this and it will only get worse.

I think we as contributors have to start doing a bit more then just complaining. I know some here do but what about the rest? Where are all those dissatisfied contributors? Why do they keep silent? Why do they continue providing with diminishing returns? This I do not understand!

Liars, they promised:
"As it grows, the SOD payout will vary, but should not fall below subscription rates - as promised in our original Facebook announcement."
