When we got the email about spamming, I noticed the size of my portfolio seemed to be more than a dozen images smaller than it was before. But I wasn't sure. So just to assure myself I wasn't nuts, I took a screen shot of the number of images in my port that day, Thursday: 9937.

Since then I've added at least 20 new vectors, yet the total number in my port has DROPPED from 9937 to 9926. That means at least 31 images have been deleted from my portfolio since last Thursday...and I believe dozens more were deleted previous to that, because I clearly remember being very close to 10,000 images back in March and thinking I'd be hitting 10,000 by April with no problem.

I've never received an email from them about any images being deleted, and I'm unaware of any policy they have of, say, automatically deleting images that haven't sold after a certain length of time...unless I'm wrong about that?

Anyone else?

That is Bizarre. And your not the first I've read about this. Have you contacted them. I don't ever use submit or support at shuuter. I find a name and contact them directly. [email protected] A truly great guy and wants to Help, Not a newbie.

Thanks. I just emailed him and someone else I know who works there. I should have reached 10,000 months ago.

So since I complained here the number went from 9926 to 9962. Again, thinking I was crazy and had just transposed the last two numbers in my mind somehow, I checked my screenshots. Yup, 9926 has absolutely changed to 9962.

Now I feel I have to take screenshots, like, every five minutes. Conspiracy theories dancing in my head.

Jeez us. Now my public portfolio shows 9926 images but my private stats show 9962. That, combined with the huge drop in sales after I reached a very significant earnings milestone earlier this year... I no longer trust Shutterstock.

I no longer trust Shutterstock.
Me too. SS experience is the worst: random rejections, deleting images behind my back,
Falling sales, thousands images spam.
I am so glad I moved on into video world!
Never looked back ever since.

After we got the email about spamming, I thought my totals were low, too, but I couldn't find any previous record of exactly how many I had. I sent an email asking if any got deleted and all I got back was the generic form letter they have been sending the last couple of weeks. I just checked my totals now and it matches the total from a couple of weeks ago, so nothing new disappearing for me.

No. But I can tell you the number has dropped substantially this year and continues to drop each week. So soon it will be zero, with 10,000 images.

When I look at your port and sort by "new" I see several duplicate images on the first page. Each with their own image ID. The only difference between them presumably is the version of AI. In each case the two duplicate images have the same description with the exception of "EPS 10 vector." added to one. Is it possible they no longer need two versions of vector images and are removing duplicates?

Let's be clear I'm not accusing you of anything, it's a fact you have duplicate images in your port, I'm simply pointing it out.

Shutterstock accepts both eps files and jpgs. That's what you're seeing in my port. For years you had to upload both if you wanted to offer jpg versions of illustrations. Only recently SS added the option to license a jpg if you looked at a vector. Before that buyers had to search "illustrations" if they wanted to license a jpg. Some buyers haven't caught on to that yet, so they'll still search under "illustrations" (jpgs) instead of "vectors." That's why I still upload both, but it is annoying so I'm cutting down on that.

So thanks for not "accusing" me of anything. Lol.

When someone writes something, especially on this site, it is often taken as a personal attack whether it's intended that way or not. To avoid conflict where there doesn't need to be any, it's best to spell things like that out. Shouldn't be necessary but this is microstockgroup after all.

Yeah, especially women like to read "between the lines" even when there isn't any lines in between.

Yeah, especially women like to read "between the lines" even when there isn't any lines in between.
That's because there usually are 'lines in between'.

LMAO... but you can almost know who are those women in person..
you can tell by the lines on their forehead;
but on the web it's hard to tell  ;)

btt,
i did get a few images being deleted, but it was followed by email telling me.
mostly, the change whatever to the IP issue...
eg it used to be just john deere, porsche/mercedez abstract, paris by night,etc..
but lately ss is taking a bit more cautious to just avoid anything
from dollar bills to flags to playing cards , buildings, etc..
even fake designer clothes or rolex copy fall prey.

perharps they had issues with these and are told to remove them.
soon we'll only be allowed to shoot apples and marijuana ;)

Soooo... A few of you were banned from here for making misogynist comments...does it need to happen again? Really? I was questioning aberrant numbers in my SS port, and it's turned into a woman-bashing thread?
