How many downloads and earnings do you generate per month on Shutter Stock?

January 2024 -> 174 download
February 2024 -> 162 download

Total number of photos: 27123
Total number of video: 212

What's the situation with you? If we regularly state our monthly earnings, we can be a reference to each other. I was earning $100 per month in the last 5-6 months of 2023, but these earnings dropped in the new year.

My port is small, so I earn only 1 ie 2 buck a month. A bit rubbish, but not bothered. Want to add more images to all my ports.

I was thinking to generate some Ai images, but that cost a bit of money, especially midjourney

My understanding is that we are not allowed to publicly share our earnings on Shutterstock. I dont agree with that rule but I dont make the rules.

my God what a disaster! :-\

Shutterstock is gone, someone who sells quite well, still sells, but is now an agency in decline, and then they don't want to accept AI content, another demonstration that they have no intention of continuing this business with contributors.

Many do share their earnings on YouTube and blogs, but never got punished by Shutterstock.  That rule never was enforced.

Shutterstock photo revenue is 1/4 of what it used to be now.  Total lack of high price sales is also the reason for huge decline.

For me SS still is doing double the income of AS.

In February it was $0.12 per image in the portfolio at shutterstock. 1352 images, no videos. It used to be just under $1 per image per month a few years ago. A sad development from the contributor's point of view. Very frustrating!

My motivation to upload anything to shutterstock is in the basement. The same applies to dreamstime and 123rf. Depositphotos is also getting worse and worse.

Im making the same total sales in dollar value on AS and SS. Im happy with both agencies and my sales are growing over time with a steadily growing portfolio.

I only upload videos.

For me SS is on rebound this year. Both Jan and Feb more than 2x compared to 23
Mar already almost twice more than Mar 23 and better than Adobe. I upload only stills

As SS is a public company the auditors/lawyers thought it would be a good idea to put this clause in the contributor contract, but they have never enforced it (as far as I'm aware). I've been reporting my earnings at SS since early 2019 with no issues.

It's crazy how things are turning out with my port. For March, so far, SS is in THIRD place behind Alamy and Pond5 with AS not too far behind.

How the once mighty SS has fallen.

so, first all the AI rants about it killing sales on AS, now attacking SS because they DON't accept AI??

the fact that low prices are .10 is irrelevant when RPD is .6-.8 shows higher sales still occur. and for me SS is double AS most months

It is not necessarily the same people who are complaining about the two things.

Someone who does not do AI may complain about AI taking away sales at Adobe, while someone who does AI may complain about Shutterstock not accepting AI.

what AI rants killing sales on AS? certainly not from me!

there is nothing that can kill sales on AS because the sales system works in a certain way.

Maybe you're referring to the fact that I was talking about limits on AI uploads, that's another matter,I never said that AI kills sales on Adobe, you misunderstood.

I believe that a limit on AI uploads can somehow increase the quality of the contents uploaded to AS,because we know that if you upload 1000 AI contents or more per month they are full of errors, and it is better for other reasons too.

and I have always disagreed that SS doesn't accept AI,It's always been something I've written here in the past.

see? this shows that misunderstandings often arise on the forum because it is very easy not to interpret what is said correctly.

Anyway,I'll summarize what I think:

in my opinion 500 AI contents per month max per contributor would be better, for many reasons, but not because they kill the sales on AS, no one kills those! :)

and in my opinion all agencies should accept AI content,I have always thought this.

I'm happy about the fact that you still earn more on SS,I hope you make a lot of money! :)

in my opinion it is an agency in decline, but it's just my opinion, for me it doesn't work, my port is still active there but I haven't uploaded since September 2023,when they send a clear signal that they are still interested in having content from contributors,I will start uploading again.

a clear signal would be,for example, to start accepting AI content or a restoration of the old royalty structure, but this won't happen in my opinion,Shutterstock is no longer interested in contributors.

I am always cautious of adhering to the rules and guidelines set by big corporations. Recently, I was banned for life from PayPal without any justifiable reason. Upon further investigation, I discovered that PayPal is not allowed for receiving payments from Adobe in Indonesia and instead, Payoneer should be used. It feels strange to be permanently banned from a widely used payment system without any valid explanation. Consequently, I have become more careful and vigilant in following the rules and guidelines of the services I use.

Fortunately, this isn't Shutterstock. We're on MSG.
