Hello guys,

Files uploaded 2 days ago that sold instantly on weekend have disappeared suddenly. When I check out my portfolio and sort by newest there are no images on the first page. I mean its a real pain as some of those are really nice images and even if SS clarifies the problem by the time they reactivate those images they will be doomed. So most likely I will have to delete and resend (as popularity is largely determined by downloads at the beginning).

It affects around 200 images, anyone else having this problem?

When I click on images that sold sunday night from this set, it says te image doesnt exist.

At least I am not alone. And the reply comes in automatically that I should wait 72 hours for changes to ...what? I mean i need to wait 72 hours after my pictures disappeared to reappear again and again and again?

I bet the guy replying didnt even look at the message properly just saw the "images not appearing" part and hit me with a standard "wait 72 hours".

Will delete them after they are activated and appear and will resend them with note to review-er: not letting good images go to waste because of a glitch, sorry:)

To further support my theory I edited an image through catalog manager by adding another category and that image appeared after 1 hour. I bet the others will not appear even after couple of days but the guys reading and replying to emails we send them about problems we experience, take no notice.

I will wait another couple of hours maybe somebody actually wants to take a look into this and will make the website a better place for all of us by ensuring some other people wont have to waste 20 hours of their lives by adding and deleting files one-by-one two times.

If nothing happens, Ill just do as I said. What saddens me is the fact that we cant complain or point out problems to people that want to solve problems.

They don't disappear, the images aren't on every server on the planet for 72 hours. If you get sales, they are somewhere, or it would be impossible? You see them because they are approved. Some I don''t see after approval on my page. But when I search they are for sale for buyers. I also get sales on files I can't see, which many others have also reported.

Why can't anybody understand it takes 72 hours for our files to be distributed to all the servers around the planet? They aren't gone, lost, missing or hidden and dying, they just aren't everywhere. Do you know how many drives and servers it takes to hold 110 million photos? Do you imagine how long it takes for all of them to have identical index one by one.

It takes 72 hours is the truth, disappearing files is a fabrication of impossible negative forum rumor.

Actually if you apply this theory it fully explains what happens to our images within the universe- 8)

"Unifying space and time Einsteins theory of special relativity created a fundamental link between space and time. The universe can be viewed as having three space dimensions up/down, left/right, forward/backward and one time dimension. This 4-dimensional space is referred to as the space-time continuum."

Then why haven't files disappeared before?

And why don't they disappear at every other site?

It's only been happening recently, and only at SS. And files that start selling and then disappear stop selling, at least for me.

Funny, I just went and checked my port. Yesterday a batch of files were approved and 3 of them sold a few hours later. Now they are missing from a port and if I click on images that were approved yesterday it says they're not avaliable or pending approval! This is pure disaster.
P.S. Those files were visible in my port yesterday, today they're not.

EDIT: I went and typed in a search box some of the keywords and they are not searchable.

Why even bother to upload, if files can't be found.

And when people post file numbers for missing files on forums, we look and they are there. This is not a new problem and I'm not saying it's not a broken part of SS. Buyers can find them or they wouldn't have sales, right?

This isn't only happening recently. Do people make up this crap Shelia just to be unhappy and spread lies. Is Feb. 2014 recently? http://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/70862-missing-images-thread-read-this-before-reporting/

Is 2015 recently? http://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/86956-suggestion-this-image-is-pending-approval-or-doesnt-exist/

Why doesn't this happen on other sites? They don't run the same outdated obsolete software. But they have their own errors. 123RF is more broken then working. Why doesn't SS have CV? IS has it. Why does DT reject for duplicate or similar and SS doesn't. Why would somebody ask such a dumb ass question. SS has 100 million files, DT has 51 million, DP has 50 million. Others have less.

This isn't the same as whole groups of older files that disappear, just with new files. It takes a few days for the system to index and catalog all the new files. It isn't the same as wrong numbers of files or showing that we have all the files on the whole system.

Why bother to upload? For the same reason as people keep repeating, they sell! Now people are complaining because new files sell?

Where does the picking and crying end? Will it ever end?
