They are both publicly traded corporation.  Why can't Shutterstock pay us at least 35% like AdobeStock?  I hope AdobeStock's video sales will surpass Shutterstock's this year.  They are growing fast and are catching up.

Adobe Stock also pays in EUR (if you have the right account) which is a bonus compared to USD commissions.

Well Adobe makes the majority of their money in other ways and we are all using their products.

So from that alone I can understand why they have the budget to pay more. They are huge, they are an 800 pound gorilla that entered our market and luckily for us, they are creator friendly. For business reasons of course, but they could have easily gotten away with paying us less.

The other thing is that for exclusive content Fotolia had much higher payouts anyway, up to 60% for fully exclusive artists, but also up to 45 (?) for exclusive images if I remember correctly.

So Adobe is following in Fotolia footsteps by offering higher payouts than others.

I really hope they rise to become maybe the dominat player, or at least together with Shutterstock.

Getty will always be there, but with their mercurial behaviour and much lower payouts, even for exclusive content, it would be great for the creator community if the better paying agencies dominate the market.

I hope they soon open up to editorial. I dont think an agency is making a complete offer, if they dont have that. Newspaper, TV and media companies are very hungry users of creative content.

Well, I created a "European" account with Fotolia some 9 years ago, where 1 credit = 1 EUR. However if you would have made an "American" account, then 1 credit = 1 USD.
I don't know if this is still the case if you make a fresh AS account, but getting euros instead of dollars is a bonus.

Unfortunately, that still is the case, and people paid in USD or GBP get much less than people paid in EUR for the same sales.

1 credit = 1 USD = 1 EUR = 0.75 GBP = 4 PLN = 7,10 SEK = 150 JPY = 1,100 KRW.

Currently... 1 EUR = 1.13 USD and 1 EUR = 0.86 GBP

Multiply this by hundreds each month and that's a lot of money.

Which means that they probably pay as much as SS with this dodgy credit system. 30% (maybe 35% for people paid in EUR)

I like Adobe, I actually i preferred Fotolia and sell more videos there.
But the SS video sales for me are fantastic. Much better than Adobe.
Same videos, tags etc .... however every month SS improves sales and Adobe falls and falls.

In video earnings for me:
1.SS
2. Pond5
3. Getty
4. Istock
5.Adobe
6. Storyblocks.

Istock pays infinitely less than Adobe or SS as a percentage of commission, but sells very well and generates a lot of revenue. I've always heard about Istock. In fact it is ridiculous commissions of 1 dollar per video in some cases. I took too long to upload. In the end it is much better than Adobe. Will understand?!?!

So 50%, 35%, 30%, 20% or 15% in my opinion is relative.
Some give you more luck or chance depending on the agency and content.
Anyway ...

Public traded works against our interests. I'm forced to add, Pond5 pay 50%

For me the ranking usually sits like this
1. Shutterstock
2. Pond 5
3. Storyblocks (still no benefit from the commission reduction)
