Anyone have any good suggestions for affiliate software to use with a ktools install? I thought it had one built it but don't see it so I think I was mistaken.

mmm...better switch to CMSaccount. Better, cheaper, has a Affiliate Module built in.

I have purchased CMSaccount and even tried it out for a few days but trying to modify the look and layout was a nightmare with embeded tables and hard coded styles. With the new Ktools it was really a dream. They make use of CSS for essentially everything making it very easy.

I think those are mostly referral programs for the small time publisher (you have a blog and want to put ads on it). For our own stores we are advertisers (we have goods for sale that we want people to promote in exchange for fees).

Anyhow, I checked out linkshare, just in case. Here's what they said

That site looks like it would be feasible but would cost $550 to set up, $25 minimum in payouts per month and 20% fees on top of what you pay the advertisers. If I had a reasonable amount of sales I think this one would work.

The advantage of using a referral site like this is they already have the publishers that are looking for things to advertise. If I set up my own software like cthoman did I'd save quite a bit but also not have the exposure of a large user base. Also, the publishers would have to sign up to my site just to set up the referral program. If they were a part of shareasale already they wouldn't need to sign up to yet another account and check referral earnings.

and the last little check for ComissionJunction

They keep their prices hidden (you know what that means!) and are a really big company like linkshare so I don't even think I'll try asking them for prices.

Here's another software solution - JAM which i see ArenaCreative is using. The cost is $250 for the basic software.

I thought pro version had an affiliate module.. but found out that it doesn't..

You can block IP addresses within cpanel, same with external linking. It might be more handy to access it from the back-end of ktools but if that's all you need from the pro version it might not be worth it.

Don't get a "external" one - get a script - either the one from Arenacreative (i work with him too and its good enough) or i recommend http://www.qualityunit.com/de/postaffiliatepro/ (there is a free version too)

Thanks for the suggestion Amos. Post Afiiliate pro is $100 more than idevaffiliate but the UI looks quite a bit nicer and may be worth it. I see that wiredtree is using what looks like idevaffiliate - both options are probably good.

But why don't you recommend getting an external one? You'd have instant access to a lot more publishers.

True, customization requires some CSS skills in CMSaccount. I wasn`t aware that Ktools is making this easier with the new version...gotta check this out soon

Why? Because you simply pay to much! All of them take comission and setup fees and they do almost nothing for you. You also stuck with them and their system and can't manage your own one.

It would worth if there is a massive amount of publishers for stock photos, but there arend. I know it because i'm looking into this for long time.

But if they don't make heavy use of CSS in the original script you have to manually add the css to EVERY file.. that's not going to work since every update you'll have to re code everything. With ktools you can make a ton changes to the look with just the css file then that's the only one you have to update if you upgrade the software.

Thanks for the thoughts. They have high set up fees and a monthly minimum of $100. I won't be using them

Leaf, V4 = PhotoStore Pro, I'm pretty sure, so you have Pro.

V4/Pro is all uses the Smarty template engine, so it's easier to mess with the layout once you see how it works.
