whether chasing thieves may be a viable business model.
I have been using the services of the copyright protection law firm "Copydefend" for a year now. During this period, they have identified more than 300 violations. Compensation through courts and pre-trial agreements is comparable to my microstock income.
Unfortunately, they are currently working on copyright infringements only in Russia.

Pond5 / Re: Dataset earnings - opt out
« on: April 12, 2024, 07:13 »
I wonder if those data earnins are a once per year earnings or an every month thing?
It seems like once a year. Today I was paid $133. The previous payment for dataset was April 12, 2023. For some reason they chose Cosmonautics Day for these payments.

Pond5 returns to its regular crawl with just one sale under $20 so far this month.
Unfortunately the same...

On the last day of March there are 6 video sales. 5 of them are through Global Market. Pond5 may have expanded its partner network.

I'm seeing my Pond5 sales picking up really well this month. Anyone else having similar results?
Unfortunately, this is not the case for me. Only 5 sales at the moment.
I usually set prices the same as blvdone.

6
And which one are these?
First of all, there is an outflow of buyers from sites with high prices. For example, from Pond5.

I did inverse image search on some of the thumbnails of stolen clips and found those clips probably were downloaded from Envato Elements' unlimited download.
This is one more argument not to upload content to sites with unlimited downloads.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Open AI Sora text to video
« on: February 16, 2024, 04:40 »
Another AI revolution. This time in a video.
Photographers and videographers will be forced into an area where you are filming something specific, a specific location or persons, and not an abstract palm tree and sea. The niche remains, but is narrowing. The main remaining niche is editorial photo and video.

What are your thoughts?

This is the best way to stop your files from being sold on other sites.

10
I think regular uploads are more beneficial. But, of course, not just one image, but at least 5-10 per day.
In this case, the images are smeared throughout the Adobe portfolio and there is a greater chance of some images getting into the best match.
This is especially true for uploading series of similar images.

11
It would be nice to have an option for contributors to allow/prohibit the sale of 4K by subscription. Or pay for 4K by subscription at double price.

12
my best travel photo (a famous landmark in a large touristy city) sold 3605 times on Shutterstock. That photo alone totally paid for the whole trip :)
The same. On many of my trips, one successful photo or video financially pays for the entire trip.
Unfortunately, now sales are not as good as before and such cases are becoming rare.
Now a flood of AI images has poured into photo stocks. Therefore, it is not abstract landscapes are in great demand, but specific locations with good descriptions and keywords.

landscape photography contributors, how are you doing on microstock sites?
Landscape photography, in my opinion, does not sell very well. But I love traveling and taking photographs because I enjoy it. However, the cost of each trip pays off over time, but the bulk of my income comes from studio photography.
And listen carefully to Roscoe's advice - it is very valuable.

The year started with good sales. I wish this continues for everyone throughout 2024!
Pay more attention to your loved ones, this is the main thing in our lives!

Get gas for the snow blower, check the salt bucket... stock up on soda and snacks.  ;D

The bird feeder is always full in cold weather. My cats love to watch birds through the window.
The next days will be frosty in my village.

New Sites - General / Re: Videvo
« on: November 11, 2023, 03:29 »
if you click on the clip it brings you to istock site.....so those are clips that istock sells through videvo....

No, in my case it leads to Vivedo's subscription page, as it is a "Premium" download, just like Freepik, their owner.
The same. For example another my video stolen by "Videvo" https://www.videvo.net/video/lower-multinskoe-lake-in-the-altai-mountains/1049845/#rs=video-box . The link  leads to different types of Vivedo's subscription page.

if you scroll down on the page, you will find "Copyright 2023 Freepik Company S.L. All rights reserved."
I found many of my videos under "author name" "Videvo" which I have never uploaded either to this site or to freepik
For example:
Videvo: https://www.videvo.net/video/panorama-of-blue-geyser-lake-in-altai-mountains/1031758/#rs=video-box
Shutterstock in my port: https://www.shutterstock.com/ru/video/clip-1028744846-panorama-blue-geyser-lake-altai-mountains-rainy
Just sent some DCMAs. Let's see what they answer.

Today is the last day for withdrawing money from Canstock. Don't forget to do this.

General - Stock Video / Re: Vertical video sales - anyone?
« on: September 25, 2023, 05:18 »
Hi. Does anyone selling vertical videos had any notable sales of these?
Hi. In my port vertical beauty videos sells better than horisontal. Nature and travel - horisontal are better. That is, it all depends on the theme, as Jasmin already said.
But you should keep in mind that vertical ones are almost always sold with cheap licenses. Their income is very small.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Contributor Dashboard down?
« on: September 15, 2023, 05:17 »
...it is becoming annoying, so often the contributor's site is down, while the sell's site is running smoothly... from a distance one can say - contributors are less important for SS now than buyers... :(
From the moment John broke his word about lifetime referral royalties, Shatterstocks loyalty to contributors can be forgotten. And all subsequent changes at Shutterstock confirm this.

22
Maybe for AI training?
About the same as a monthly royalty on Adobe.

General Photography Discussion / Re: IP Copyright Attorney
« on: August 22, 2023, 09:08 »
After years of watching my photos being stolen I've decided it's time to do something about it.

I decided to do the same.
I can't recommend a US intellectual property lawyer. But surely there must be good lawyers who take on such cases. I wish that you find them.
A month ago, I started working with a legal organization specializing in copyright protection in Russia (Copydefend). Now they are investigating 79 cases of illegal use of my photos. Hope for positive results.

General - Stock Video / Re: MOV or MP4 files?
« on: August 18, 2023, 06:41 »
Which file format do you use for uploading video?
And wich one is the best (for sales)?
I upload mostly in mp4. As for sales, I think that it is more important for the buyer WHAT and HOW it is filmed, and not in what format it is saved.
