iStockPhoto.com / Re: Clipping paths missing?
« on: May 04, 2011, 14:26 »
The problem is some disgruntled buyers take to giving 1-star reviews for good-selling images and writing nasty comments without contacting me. Frustrating when I check my original images and they all have the clipping paths. I always get in touch with disgruntled buyers and try to resolve any issues, and most of the time it is fine - however the ones that just write "DONT BELIEVE THE LIES NO CLIPPING PATH!!" often never get back after a sitemail and just make my files look bad.

Not sure about what to do about this situation - perhaps the best thing is to stop saying files include clipping path altogether?

Hi, any info on this would be appreciated:

I have had some buyers contacting me saying that the clipping path I included in my uploaded file is missing. I have re-checked my original file and the paths are there.

I even bought one of my contested files myself in size small, and sure enough, no clipping path. Digging around the forums I find some people saying the clipping paths are only included for the largest size - is this still the case?

Is there any workaround to this? Anybody else with the same experience?

Any information much appreciated!

The buyer is fine with the image having been sold a few times in the past.

So, I would not be in breach of contract with iStock if I deactivate and sell it?

Also they intend to use the image as part of a logotype. Do you have any suggestions on what market prices for this sort of thing would be?

I was recently approached by a buyer who wants to buy exclusive rights to one of my images. Can I sell them one of my images and deactivate it on iStock - or should I suggest to create a new image in the same style for them (and possibly deactivate the one they originally wanted)?

I am looking for info on what I am contractually allowed to do, and also pricing suggestions for selling full exclusive rights. To make a new version would probably take me half a day or so.

Any information appreciated!

Concerning invitation-only I must have confused it with the wording in the email "sent to select contributors only". Apologies for any misrepresentation.

I have noticed you have some files in the Agency collection Sean. Albeit early, how would you say it has been performing so far?

I just received an email inviting me to join the Agency collection. As it seems, once you opt in, the inspectors will pick out suitable files from your portfolio.

I am unsure if it is wise financially to join or not. Has anybody else received this email? What is your take on it?

Any info appreciated!
