Shutterstock.com / Re: Rejections are becoming absurd!« on: June 25, 2012, 03:16 »
I just had a batch approved at SS (after not uploading for a few months) and I didn't notice any change in their acceptance. I got all my pictures approved, even though some of them were not 100% perfect to my own standards.
Of course 1 batch after a long break isn't much statistics; but not hearing many other contributors screaming about tough acceptance I would guess the problem is more likely with your images rather than with SS. 28
Newbie Discussion / Re: Who has had sales at Graphic Leftovers?« on: June 21, 2012, 14:25 »
I uploaded only ~400 photos to GL until now; and I got 5 sales in 2012. Not really encouraging to upload the rest of my portfolio...

It's the same company that organizes StockInRussia conferences.
And the same company owning their own stock production group (under name pressmaster/Shironosov) 32

for iStock it does seem to be RNS Camelia though... 36

General Stock Discussion / Re: what's the most amount of money you would spend on a single shoot for microstock« on: February 29, 2012, 17:03 »
My best sellers only costed me my time (a few landscape and industrial pictures).
Doing model shoots I didn't spend more than 200 Eur so far per one single photo shoot (the session cost did go above a few times, but in these cases it was split with the other photographer(s)). I certainly would have spent more if I was doing it as a real part-time or full-time job, but not while it remains a hobby. 40

The second image is the only other candle in my port. the rejection of "too many of this subject" is different to rejection for similars. In this case they meant they have plenty handles already, even if not yours: http://www.dreamstime.com/search.php?srh_field=candle+holder p.s. I am very annoyed too by their policy about "similar images" 43
Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia rejecting everything lately« on: January 14, 2012, 17:03 »
FL acceptance very heavily depends on image content and less on technical quality though they are picky on that one too.
In my experience: Staged pictures of people with good lighting are accepted well. Textures/backgrounds - not so well but not too bad Industrial landscapes - many rejections although they are good sellers elsewhere Landscapes & nature - very bad acceptance, most rejected 44

They are there for a long time already. They are part of Fotolia Infinity collection which is for their premium content (seems to be analog for both Vetta and Getty RF)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Political (in-)Actions« on: January 11, 2012, 06:49 »i always thought it was against the ToS to use stock pictures in political campaigns?I believe so too - and I recall an incident in Belgium that was reported a few years ago about Getty image of a Walloon model used by an ad of a Flemish nationalistic party (i.e. anti-Walloon one) and the model won the court case against that party. Remark: Flanders and Wallonia are 2 regions in Belgium : Dutch-speaking and French-speaking respectively 47
iStockPhoto.com / Re: PAYPAL - new EU rules« on: January 08, 2012, 09:20 »
I believe in the past the cost of transaction was the cheapest for "Personal" accounts, for any other PayPal was charging more. However I didn't check that lately, it could have changed.

I keep using it with my "Personal" free account both for microstock and for paying my online purchases. And it is linked with my bank account for cashing out microstock earnings.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Stats on Microstock« on: January 05, 2012, 10:29 »
Interesting data indeed
---------------------- It's very interesting how 80/20 rule is shifted @istock to 80/7 However looking at my own referrals I think that it's the case elsewhere too. I see many more registered in 2011 than ever before. Most of registered "contributors" among my referrals don't have any single photo or have a very few pics. ---------------------- I don't believe in 19 million images produced and uploaded in microstock - I think it can only be true if that counts same images uploaded to multiple agencies ---------------------- The pace of video sales growth might overcome static pics but I am sure volume of sales will stay behind at least for a couple more years 50
General Stock Discussion / Re: Your plans, for 2012 ?« on: December 31, 2011, 12:17 »
If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans.
In stock photo my only firm plan is to re-start uploading after several months break; and to continue shooting. Other than that I have some ideas but not plans. And I plan to escape from miserable Belgian winter on vacation in 6 weeks. |
