This is the first time ever that I won't make the $35.00 min Payout for this month of September--2017. I am sadden.
? Is this a new policy, did I miss something

No, I think it has been Shutterstock's policy to sadden contributors for a good while now.

Everyones income has been slashed, slashed, slashed. Microstock is pretty much a waste of time nowadays. Whereas before, contributers could swallow the piddly subscription rates because volume sold was good, now there really is no incentive to put the time and effort in to upload.

For 2K$ it must tie shoes as well!
Just buy velcro shoes - easy, peasy!

Signed up a few days ago Never got a confirmation email but got my first assignment It was to provide 4 images for the princely sum of $50 - for a very large financial institution
I declined the task, but was curious to see what a typical payout would be
SS has nothing to lose and everything to gain by opening a new revenue stream by doing this And you can bet that just as there are lineups of contributers joining microstock, just to feel good ' knowing someone is willing to buy my images' mentality, they may make a go of this new initiative
As was pointed out, perhaps in a few short years, they will have ammassed for themselves a diverse library of images that they can use any way they choose
Scary

Lots of wedding photographers do this practise as well. I agree, if your "pro" enough to charge and lead excursions, then you should only advertise using what you have personally taken. After all images play a large factor in helping people decide whether or not to take a certain course or excursion

I have applied, but the promised verification email has never arrived
Is this like imagebrief?
As I have understood it is similar, but maybe more "brand oriented" (?)

You could have sent them the link to your portfolio and ask them to do a search within your portfolio. That would have made things simpler.
If I'm going to help the customer find an image, I should want the whole piece of the pie These agencies take the lions share of every sale, if they mess with the search that frustrates clients, they should pay the price Good for you for getting the money in your pocket

It's hard to process $0.00077 being described as "some money".
There is probably that much "money" in my lungs right now, in the form of atoms of gold drifting in the atmosphere.
Let's get real. This is zero.
This is the most intelligent comment in this thread

Now the agency gets to close "q's" account and keep all the money to themselves ...
Tje original artist always loses once to the thief and then to the agency

copyrights protect artistic works (drawings, paintings, literature, photos, movies, etc). they do not protect anything that has utility (the shape of a guitar). guitars are not creative works. guitar shapes are NOT protected by copyright.
trademarks protect brand names and sources of manufacture or services. they do NOT protect guitar shapes.
the image should not have been rejected.
Are you a lawyer?
thats pretty funny

you said: " Who wants to waste time and energy on a potential court case, even if you might win?"
you are completely wrong, and this is a nonsense argument.
any manufactured product in the world, by the definition of the ignorant, is 'copyrighted and trademarked', and therefor it would be illegal to sell any photo with any manufactured product. which means all legal photos would have to be naked people and nature. [\quote]
Quote me the relavent rules in Ss TOS that allows this
Your outrageous
