I'm pretty much out of the microstock loop these days but do try and keep up with a few things. Am I missing something here? Is shutterstock now using a reseller? I have been on SS for a long time but have never known them to employ a reseller. See the link http://www.ilovestockphoto.com/category/fooddrink/I was doing some research on a particular shooter to possibly hire and stumbled on this by chance. The only thing I can think of otherwise is that this is some indie grabbing photos and linking to try and live off referral income. It looks like they are hotlinking the images right from the major sites. Well just thought I would bring this to someone's attention. As the page sits now for the food and drink category, looks like one of Lisa Young's images on there and being linked to Dreamstime. Well just FYI for anyone who wishes to pursue.

Input your IPTC data before submitting if you're not doing that. Send in smaller batches to test the waters for what they want. Usually HDR stuff if not desirable for buyers unless the image has that "X" factor. Serious designers would much rather have the clean photo and put the fancy effects in themselves. You need to submit for the market, and sometimes it's not what you like.

Alamy has 60% for their contributors...
Honestly drop the agencies that screw us. I did and others have too. Yeah, I'm a quitter, I admit it.
You're not a quitter. You've just come to your senses is all.

When I was prepping to close my account last year, I think I had $38 in balance. I asked for a payout and somehow got it. When the payout cleared Paypal, I sent the a "Please close my account " email, and they responded with this exact quote:
"Why? Did we do something wrong?"
I replied with "Please just close it" and within 2 days it was gone.

Pay to play? No thanks. Bad enough that Getty does it. They will prey on the MWCs (moms with cameras) to get their $12. Any serious shooter who knows anything about stock will look on this as some kind of joke.

If Pixmac is no longer a partner of Dreamstime, Fotolia or Big Stock... why are 147 of my images still there? Kinda curious.... do they have other "partners"?
123RF - is that about the amount that you maybe have on 123RF?

PM is also scraping from 123RF, or at least they were as of about 2 weeks ago. Just FYI.

Well hope no one from Ireland is hoping to join the club in anticipation of a revenue stream. From the site: Prizes will be in the form of Vouchers for Conns Cameras, DublinAnd what if no one wins? Personally for even a corporate gig I see crotchety old cam club members submitting a pool of puppydogs and sunsets. Contests are subject to complex lottery and gaming laws that vary from country to country, and in order to fulfill the legal, terms, conditions, and prohibitions must be posted for the entrants. I really thought Jerry Kennelly was much smarter than this. And a judge submitting entries? Really, this is all too funny

is there a problem with uploads at the moment? Items in the "Upload Queue" don't seem to move to "Pending Approval" when you hit "Submit for Approval"
I am pretty sure it stays in the Queue until the reviewers move it to a pending area. It looks like they have been busy. What went up overnight is a lot of people stuff.

Makes total sense to me Race.
Best, Jonathan
Glad someone understands, I'll add the sporting good store example and hopefully it will sink in.
A guy goes into a sporting good store, and buys a baseball bat (Louisville Slugger because he likes quality bats) Then he goes out and bashes in someones head. Do the store and the bat company get sued and indicted for accessories to murder as contributing factors, by providing the weapon? NO!
A guy goes into a microstock site and buys an editorial photo. He uses the picture on a calendar and sells many copies on the web. Do the agency that sold it and the photographer get sued for improper usage and get included because they are responsible for the misuse of an image. NO!
The final use, if licensed properly or model released properly, at time of sale, is the responsibility of the buyer! The agent and photographer are not responsible for the way someone else uses the image.
You are talking calendars. That would come under Art. Art cases have already been won by artists in the courts (search Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Copyright and also University of Alabama Copyright Lawsuit.) The real issue is with using improper images to advertise a product. Your shooting a picture of a cook preparing your food product and you have a prominent view Cuisinart on the counter? You'd better move it out of the frame. Same thing with Mixmaster.

I'm sure if someone sent a note to Adobe the site would disappear in just a few minutes. Entertaining though for sure.

Looks like they're 3 minutes old or something. Here's a search after "woman", sorted by downloads http://www.viscoimages.com/list/search/?page=1&order=download&srch=all&find=woman
Also, Yuri is not there which is kinda worrying...
Would Yuri really lower himself for this one? Or is he just going everywhere he can these days? Not that I would blame him for joining, income is income. In that pool, he might be the only one with sales.

Dear friends!
Thank you for your comments!
Please note, that at this stage there was a start ONLY for contributors! We are opened only in BETA VERSION by now, which will allow contributors to participate in an unique campaign in the project, till the full start.
Full launch of the project (store opening) is provided at the end of 2010.
Thank you for your questions, comments and suggestions!
Still, where is the Impressum if you claim to be "Swiss"? I did work on German and Swiss site launches, and that is the first thing that went up, whether Beta or not. The German managers were pretty firm about that

From the site - you can upload as many as you want, but only 40 a day will go to reviewers
"The GL Review team is overwhelmed with new and existing Seller submissions, which unfortunately has slowed down approval times. Some Sellers upload 3-5 images a day while others upload hundreds and even thousands at a timecreating quite a traffic jam.
To keep our speedy review process, we are going to limit daily image reviews to 40 per day, per contributor. We have introduced a new area called queued images. This area will keep all your submitted images. You can upload as many images as you like, but only 40 images will appear in the reviewers pending area each day. For example, if you upload 200 images today, 40 images will go to the review team and the other 160 will go to queued area. The next day, 40 more images will be released to the review team and so on until all 200 images have been reviewed.
This new system will create a fair and speedy review process so that everyone can get their images approved and online."

Just a look at the recently added section shows they are seriously upping their standards. If you go to the very last pages, it's a lot of junk.

Sorry but I would have to agree with Paulie.. But honestly FeaturePics isn't worth the effort so why coming back??..
Yeah, what is the big deal there? Saw the station23 blog too with all the agency bashing. What's the point. They're not Agency Reviews. It's just a bunch of whining with ads in between. So who's next on your hit list?

I joined to Stockfresh 1.June. Affiliate program was accepted immediately but my application waiting. It is not fair. I may make advertisement for them but upload images no For me would be better if they reject my applications as I must wait for now 4 months.
you are 100% right.. maybe I should remove the banner from my crappy blog
Luis, it looks like the strategy is to take the high rollers first. I've totally forgotten about SF and have other lucrative irons in the fire. 30 days for an approval is understandable, 3 or 4 months is not. Good luck to you.

What DT hasn't realized with their idiotic process is that it is costing them BIG money by putting jpeg only for sale. No buyer is going to wait 3 weeks for their dumbass approval system to clear a vector file.

What would be really funny is if the same "supporters" showed up in their rivals ads.
It already happened in the UK during the last major election. Sorry I'm not in the UK, but I'm sure google will find it if you play around with some searches. There might even be a thread right here on MSG.

Haven't done anything with my stuff there, but thinking of sending them a bunch of garbage images for one last upload just to tie up a reviewer.
