Jonathan - thanks so much for your posts. I learn heaps and always enjoy the read. Few photographers are as willing to share so much.
Thanks Marlene

I was another velvia user but must agree that I sure do love the song - don't take my kodachrome away.
By the way, yea I'm pretty new to this group - have been lurking for the most part up until recently.

Just to let you guys know - I ended up buying a monitor finally. Samsung Syncmaster 245T - I think the 245T replaced the 244T. It was $550.00 Canadian which seemed pretty reasonable. Haven't calibrated it yet and only just got it set up.
Thanks for all the help Marlene

I can't believe I'm saying this in Vancouver but good luck waiting for a rainy day. Hope I haven't jinxed the weather by that comment. Ziplock bags.

Just my two cents worth Lee but if you prefer shooting travel lifestyle, I'm guessing that those will actually be better pictures anyhow. For me if my heart's not in it, the results really show it and SUCK.

I currently have the d200 but have heard great things about the d90 - ie friends who have recently bought this camera. I've also seen some excellent reviews for the d90 - check out google reviews for it. Sounds like you can't go wrong with that one. As for the d5000 - I'm not familiar with that at all - could be it's not available here in Canada?

Not sold on anything yet Leaf so 30" isn't out of the question BUT I am determined to keep it in the $1000 range. Too many things on the list of "I want" so don't want to go crazy on the monitor. Will let you know what I find though.

Thanks for all the help you guys. I went out today and drooled for awhile over the LaCie and some Apple. Now I'm going to have to check out Samsung too - oh oh. More choices. Samsung really? Interesting - I'll check that out. $700 would be great as I've been expecting to have to pay more. What I don't want to do is buy something that 2 years down the road I'll want to replace. Course that might happen anyway.
Thanks - will check things out. Bit more research on NEC too.

Hi guys, I'm new here and currently in the market for a new monitor. I've been looking at the LaCie 324 and wondering if anyone here has any experience with that one. Please share. Or let me know what monitor you've got and if you're happy with it. I want to stay in the $1,000 (Cdn) price range though so nothing crazy expensive.
Thanks, Marlene

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum but just couldn't help joining in - especially when we're talking about the WEATHER. Ha! I'm downtown (Vancouver) that is and shortly will be trying to make my way to the north shore. I've got my snowshoes with me. I know Zeus and where he is - and vice versa we're not that far from each other on the north shore - THIS IS NUTS!!!
