Hi Frank,

A quick question regarding FTP uploads, will this ever be considered at Photocase?

My 2 cents as I'm actually more of a buyer than photog. While I desperately wish to purchase from the "little guys" to help support the community, Photocase has a lot of images that simply won't work for the client. "Non stocky" is not necessarily a good thing. I've asked clients to search your site and I get "weird, not impressed, not what we're looking for" responses. I'll be glad to support your site, but you might consider adding some more "useable" images. I get the "art-for-art's-sake" thing, but it's still a business (I think).

Funny. That's what Photocase said to my attempts to submit images to them

I don't submit there 'cause I couldn't find anything of mine they liked (and I left the objects over white out of the stuff I sent them)

Same here, i tried uploading 10 Images last week. I selected 5 of my favorite images that where not "stocky". Very natural stuff that is also pin sharp (and even though not stocky, was accepted at all other sites). Additionally i added 5 of my bestseller images. These where really stocky images. So in summary i thought at least some would be taken.

Well, i was dissapointed, every single image was rejected.

Why would you upload to an agency that is not even ranked on the poll on the right side? I cant even be bothered by middle tier agencies anymore. Let alone an agency that gets you one sale per year.

@anonymous, we definitely do not fulfill everybody's needs. We look at saleability from a different angle. So what Customer A thinks is weird might be for perfect for customer B. Otherwise we wouldn't sell photos. This isn't the first time I've heard this, and this is ok. If you just want a pizza you can go to one of many pizzerias and get great pizza. But when you want a pizza with some sweet potatoes and spicy maple syrup on it, then you come to us.

@ron, @Dantheman thanks for trying. 10 photos as a test are not enough To get a better understanding what might you get through the door I would recommend to browse through our photos that are online http://www.photocase.com/photobrowser.asp Also we a have a great community, that helps you do understand why a photo didn't get accepted. Either push the not accepted photo directly into our forum or you see a reason directly at the rejected photo.

Sorry Frank, but I never tried. As I said before I cant be bothered by bottom tier agencies that give me 50% of nothing. I am only submitting to the top 7 (not DT) and 4 of them are going to be dropped as well. So why would I try Photo_case?

Why wouldn't you? Thing to understand about Photocase is that they fit into a certain niche. Once you have identified material that matches that niche and upload it, your approval rate will rise significantly. And be assured: despite of some of the comments here, there seems to be a market for these pictures.

Well, as my portfolios at the different agencies are comparatively small (120 to 170 pics online each at Fotolia, iStock, Photocase and some others) I don't know if my expierience is applicable for others, but: With these - quite comparable - portfolios, Photocase contriubted the main part of my earnings last month (50.54 €), whilst Fotolia (6.8 Credits) and iStock ($4.23 , not including the outstanding PP sales) are back behind more than just a bit.

As Frank pointed out, your share at the beginning is at 40% and can rise up to 60%, which is (as far as I can tell) quite high in this business. Also the prices at PC seem to be a bit above average. Last but not least, the download/upload ratio beats any of the other agencies I sell my pictures at.

From my point of view these are only some of the reasons to upload to PC.
