Why is istock's US income minus 30% tax, and my shutterstock is 15% tax! Is there any problem with me filling out the tax form?

it would be illegal, but if they are sending you 1042s forms they are not keeping it for themselves.

To complicate the question further why would a Canadian company be collecting taxes for the US at all? Does Canada have a tax treaty with the US?

Since they're owned by Getty, US tax laws are applicable.

Since they're owned by Getty, US tax laws are applicable.

No, company profits repatriated to the US are taxable, Canadian tax laws would be applicable to businesses based in Canada.

I filled out, I filled out the same tax form as ss, I think there is no problem, but ss will only charge me 15% of the US income source tax, but is 30%!

As the correct withholding rate is 30%

the question is really 'why is SS only taking 15%?'
Because according to SS's own page, they should be charging 30%

This assuming your country has no tax agreement with the US and that you filled in the relevant forms correctly for each agency.
