Jan stats.

Jan stats thread on IS shows overwhelmingly earnings increase among exclusives
Several non-exclusives who responded there mostly reporting earnings decrease. Although most of the independents reporting there have really tiny portfolios and under 2500 downloads. So Im not sure how representative it is.
Mine states are even lower then in December.

I think most exclusives had pretty low downloads but the earnings were pretty good due to the price increase. I am a silver exclusive and it was my worst month for downloads since June 2007. However, the earnings were not too bad. Also to be fair, by downloads Jan 2010 was only about 7% lower than Jan 2009. For me January was always a month with pretty low downloads. Also, I have not uploaded much in 2009 so my market share has dicreased since everybody is uploading like crazy.

I think the more important measurement is downloads. Of course short term earnings will go up for exclusives. It's on average about a 70% increase in price.

I'm exclusive and my downloads are down from Nov and Dec. Not sure if that's economy, buyers fleeing from the price increase, buyers buying non-exclusive files, or whatever.

Earnings are up. Not as high as I was hoping but that's better than a decrease.

My figures were dls 25% down on Jan '09, $$$ 30% up, thanks mostly to a Vetta EL on Friday.  ;D
(Compared to Jan '08, my Jan '10 sales are -45%, despite uploading about the same in 2008 and 2009 as in 2007.
My 2009 pics haven't attracted much interest - not even 250 dls between them  :'(

As a non-exclusive, I was pleased with January on istock and I also noticed more downloads on some of the other sites, so perhaps the buyers that didn't like the price hike are going elsewhere?

My sales have been pretty steady there in fact since the price increase towards the later part of the month downloads have increased significantly even though I had no new uploads so think for some independents the price hike could be advantageous, it will be interesting to see how February performs. That said the same trend was also seen at SS, Fotolia and Dreamstime for me with increases towards the end of the month and well up on last year

+1, except for the no uploads part... I've been consistently uploading and pleased with the results in Jan.

According to the charts on the stat page of IS, both my downloads and earnings are up from Nov. and Dec. So why didn't I make payout last week? Hmmm....

I dont quite agree.
THE most important measurement is money.
My downloads number in Jan is up comparing to Dec.
However much bigger % of them is Xsmall and $$ revenue is actually down.

Let me clarify that. Yes, money is most important. But what happens if the overall trend of downloads at IS starts going down and continues that way? If it did your money would probably go down with it unless IS does something like more price increases.

I look at downloads. If they're trending down that tells me something changed and I didn't see it coming and/or adjust accordingly.

I am not in the exclusive program yet, but all of my images have been off the other sites the entire month (except Dreamstime, where most of my port was off and the stragglers have been removed slowly the whole month).

iStock Jan 2010 for me was +145% sales and +199% royalties compared to Jan 2009, and Jan '09 was fairly strong on its own.  In fact this Jan would have been #3 in earnings compared to 2009.

I wish all agencies ( exeption RM agencies)  would stop this old-fashioned, totally out of date, antique values of Exclusive or non-exclusive. It simply doesnt belong in a world of 2010 with gazillions of shots, in billions of agencies, where nobody seam to know nothing about anything.
Its just a pretty word.
