Saffron Walden, Essex, England - June 05, 2016: White horse with Female rider in Elizabethan mans costume rearing up on back legs, in park land with lake and trees.

Grafham, Cambridgeshire, England - May 22, 2016: Male triathlete at end of cycling stage sitting on the ground with bicycles.

The two Captions above were rejected by Istock the top one was my third attempt this is an on going problem for me about a third of my editorial pics are rejected for caption problem, I do not understand what they are looking for. I have use their help service a couple of times but rather an explanation the photos in question just appear as approved a couple of weeks later.

I'm in the same boat seems totally random to me. Given the level of sales/commission I really can't be bothered to mess around with resubmissions I'd rather spend time on new stuff but its frustrating.

Hi Martin; Can you share a link of the images. It's difficult to see where you can improve the captions if there is no visual reference.

I don't know the image, but that suggests the female rider was rearing up.
Something like Female horse rider wearing Elizabethan male costume on a white horse which is rearing up on its back legs, in parkland with a lake and some trees (but probably also needs some detail about the exact location in Saffron Walden).

But you will absolutely get rejections for the counties. It should be Saffron Walden, England, UK or just Saffron Walden, UK.

iS will probably also be looking for evidence that you have the right to submit these images, i.e. that the pics were not on private ground, unless you have submitted an Editorial Property Consent Form.

Here's my some what uninformed method for getting editorial captions through. I just make it really lengthy. Sometimes I have to scratch my head to think of more things to write. This method seems to work for me. So instead of writing a sentence, I write a paragraph.

I'm not sure if this applies to your photo, but from my own editorial rejections there it seems if there is ANYBODY else in the picture no matter how far away or irrelevant to the photo, they need to be mentioned in the caption. (e.g. ...with bystanders/spectators on the sidelines.)

I meant that they must think that the town name is 'Saffron Walden Essex'. If the extra comma would mean a rejection, it means the county shouldn't be there. To be fair, it would be impossible for inspectors to know the name of every habitation on the planet, and too costly to check during every inspection. (For some reason, I thought the spelling was Saffron Waldon, so I've learned something. For how long I'll retain it, I couldn't possibly say!).
Where you will also have an issue is if you have an editorial photo, e.g. a road shot, which isn't near a habitation. Their system can't cope with that at all. Either you have to lie and put in a habitation name, or submit elsewhere.

These are weird rules. That pic of George Clooney "greeting fans", when you can't see a single fan.

Also I don't like this: "due to the sensitive nature of photographing children, provide the name, age, and general area of residence for all children in editorial photographs." I rather think that information should NOT be provided in a caption from child safety/protection considerations.

And they seem to have NO IDEA which cities are in the US and which aren't:

Yes perverse what do they actually think people will use these for? children can be found pretty much everywhere! Obviously sexually dubious/provocative pictures should and are barred.
