I had 9 sales on Pond5 for yesterday's report totaling nearly $1,000 royalty.  That's what I love about Pond5.  Although sales have been inconsistent on Pond5 this year, they still deliver occasionally.  I'm all exclusive on Pond5 and get 60% royalty on my videos.  My RPD was over $100/clip for yesterday's report.  On Adobe Stock, Shutterstock and other subscription sites, you only get less than $10/clip for a sale now.  That's sad.  Yes, buyers pay $149/HD if they can't find the same clip on Adobe Stock, Shutterstock or other subscription or unlimited download sites.  They save money using sub and unlimited sites, and spend the rest of their budget on Pond5 for the clips they couldn't find on other sites.  Until a few years ago, all stock video buyers used to pay per clip for decent price.  So, it's nothing new for them to pay decent price for clips especially for big budget project, production and companies.

Hmm. Nice.

For me - not sure what happened... Last year - was consistently doing well - so uploaded a set of about 1,000 new videos. Sales tanked by about 90% almost overnight to my utter shock, and for probably 6-7 months really didn't do that well. I asked the staff - and just got a stock reply basically saying 'hmm. oh well'. I was very sad.

Slowly it seems to be growing again. I hope I see the same kinds of results you have soon, because that is very nice.

Congratulations.

blvdone, nothing can be said without seeing the video that was bought from you at high prices. Accordingly, all your conclusions are just your slogans.

I'm not even talking about the fact that I can draw a table similar to yours in any graphics editor.
 ;D ;D ;D

Either way, you're putting all your eggs in one basket. Many stockers don't work that way.
Especially after shutterstock bought pond5.

While it may be true someone could post 'fake screenshots' - I doubt that is the case here. He's not trying to sell any 'get rich quick from my video course' type of stuff, and has consistently provided interesting and valuable posts, so there would not really be any point for him to 'make' stuff up.

It is believable. You have the right content, that people need - they have the budget to buy it, so they do. Lol - part of the reason I'd like to see similar results soon :)

Thank you!!  It seems like Pond5 is doing better since the price structure change to 2 tier system.

Yeah, I know, but I didn't want to show which videos were sold.  I don't really care if you believe or not.   ;D ;D

I do admit it is nice not seeing "$10" sales any more. I actually did price my clips higher to reflect their value - but for some reason - Pond5 several years ago said they would change the prices despite what you had set them to before.

And I totally agree that some people were flooding the market with 'cheap' clips (i.e., $25/HD, $50/4k) which would of course affect buyer perception.

Anyways - looking forward to having a big payday (ideally sometime soon) like you have. Congrats again :)

I don't need to believe you or not. I don't see the level of your videos, I don't see the plot. Therefore, I can't give any assessment. In order for people to focus on your experience, they should compare their video with your video. The pricing policy cannot be the same for all authors, because the level of everyone's videos is different. You must understand this and should not give advice in the form of slogans. Also, I am 100% sure that if your videos were on other stocks, they would also be bought on pond5, if of course your video is needed by those buyers who buy on pond5.

I personally don't understand why people post on youtube how to make money on stock videos/photos to create their own competitors.  You may make a few bucks, but eventually your new competitors will eat your cut of the pie.

Yes, I'm happy not seeing those $25/HD $27/4K clips from some top high quality producers who somehow decided to sell their clips for pennies.  Most of them are now priced at $149 as they should be.  There was nothing good for Pond5 and us contributors to allow those el cheapo prices for several years.  That was the pure race to the bottom by Pond5.  Horrible move.  I'm glad they corrected their failure that hurt us all in the industry.  September and October are the best months of the year.  So, I hope we'll have decent months before slowing down in Nov and Dec.

Lol - partially because - many of the "how to get rich quick" people on youtube (not just related to photography) aren't actually making money from what they are teaching - but rather trying to get you to buy an overpriced "video course" or making money through "ads".

The few that are somewhat legitimate tend to use it as business leads for other products/services, aka lead generation.

Same here. Zero recovery.    I maybe have had 5 sales all year.  Last year I got that every month.  In January, I stopped getting sales. Canned response from P5.  They are now my lowest performer, below DP.

Yes, I see those clickbait videos of all kinds on youtube out there.  It's annoying.

I like how you are not bragging about how easy to make money on stock photos/videos unlike some who are trying to sell you a video course etc.  lol
