Wow... rarely do you see such a high profile case of someone placing a watermarked image on the front page of a highly viewed website...

I hate Matt Drudge, but I must admit I check out his right-wing diatribe of a website to see how he's spinning the daily news.

This morning, he has a pretty clearly watermarked image he lifted from Dreamstime.com...

The site will change in a moment, but check it out right now... http://drudgereport.com/

Here's the image he has lifted... http://www.dreamstime.com/royalty-free-stock-image-dollar-flow-in-black-hole-image6797566

Hey, mike_kiev, if you're on this forum, I'd be pretty miffed about this.

Don't see that pic on the front page now.

I warned in my original post that it would change in a moment (headlines are refreshed every hour or so) and it looks like that indeed happened.  But if it happened once, it will happen again.  Let's watch him.

If anyone sees it (another watermarked image) again, get a screen grab. That is something that the person whose image has been swiped could use in an e-mail of complaint.

Or send it to a left wing blog for them to make fun of Drudge, which might be more satisfying :-)

This illustrates a major problem with the stock photo business model in this day and age.

BTW - I can barely even tell its watermarked on the DT site!!! I saw that on Drudge Report before reading this thread and never caught it.

hmm, I wonder if it was an oversight or a comp used accidentally. I've had an image in the Drudge Report, which they bought legitimately and they're high profile enough that I can't see this being a case of stealing an image. definitely follow up with the agency....
