Correct me if I am wrong. I'm comparing packages of 25 images per day (but 26 in 123RF, 20 in CS). IS is out because their per-size system is not quite easy to compare.

So it seems StockXpert is "THE" place for a buyer who wants long-terms subs. No wonder my subs sales had increased (then I opted-out)

actually SS goes from .25 to .38 and getting to .38 is not that hard, unlike the FT .32 which is pretty much impossible to reach.

Look at the difference between 123rf and fotolia. Fotolia are charging more and paying us less. No wonder lots of us are thinking of leaving. It is interesting that 123rf are catching up with fotolia for me. I never thought that would happen.

about a quarter of the members here getting 38 Cent at SS it's an pretty easy goal (unlike FTs senseless Diamond) you should correct it in your first post.

yeah 123rf definitely have the best deal for photographers in regards to subscriptions

This is just subscription packages and only SS specializes in this market. The other sites have more pay per download sales and those are size based.

Fotolia do limit their subscription sales to the L size.

Corrected SS earnings and also 123RF 3mo price (it was on the 6mo column).

Boy, CS is really cheap, isn't it? No wander subs prevail so much there.

Even so, I don't think a subscription there would be a bargain. Their image collection is not competitive with the more popular sites.

Yes, I think Crestock should be charging more for weeding out the dross, not less.

I just checked CanStock's site after reading Fotolia's boast "The lowest image prices in the world" on their page with the benefits of subscriptions touted.

CanStock says it's $1199.95 for a 1 year, 25 a day subscription (and $749.95 for 6 months). It's no bargain given their collection, but it undercuts FT's claim (ill advised though it may be to take the Wal-Mart approach) to having the lowest image prices in the world.

$0.208 cents per image if you download your entire year's worth at FT and $0.131 if you do that at CanStock

And I wish they'd fix the front page button to say "Subscribe" - they were told about that days ago and it's still there.

Too low a price can scare people off. I've heard designers talk about some microstock prices being too low already. And I get it. We're a "you get what you pay for" culture and we are taught at a young age to be skeptical of any deal that is just way too good. I've even heard some designers question whether you get a real full RF license when prices are too low. Of course they do get the license, but I can see how too low a price makes people question what they are really getting for their dollar. Ill advised indeed to become the Wal-Mart of stock, in my opinion.

SnapVillage is also trying to get into the cheap subscriptions business. It's a temporary promo, but $149 for 30 days subs (25 a day like most other places) - that underccuts CanStock's 1 month by 95 cents

Also, at 19 cents an image, it's another site to challenge FT's claim to the lowest image prices anywhere (at 20.8 cents per).

Nuh-unh (grin), or at least some people don't think so. jsnover reports that Canstock's sub package and pricing are different than the "CS" one reported in the original posting. <see the posting 5 above this one>

But yeah, there needs to be a better abbreviation so that there's no confusion. Maybe "CA" and "CR" would work better. Or maybe "CAN" and "CRE".

It seems that instead of going up in prices for single images all sites now try to pull these disgusting subs (at least disgusting for us). I don´t know, but this is a new version of the "race to the bottom" that I tought we had surpassed last year... If this trend continues we will see diminishing returns and people leaving those sites that do not have an opt-out option. Agencies will always use corporate spin to promise more sales, more returns... in the end they will profit, we wont.

IMO Canstock is a joke anyway, irrelevant to the rest of the industry. I didn't hear that Snapvillage is selling .19 subscriptions, did I read that right? Last month I got about a dozen sub sales there for a whopping .30 each, much better than .19 $:-\$

You read part of it right - but not the sentence above said that SnapVillage's price is a promotion this month, so perhaps the 19 cents won't last.

Sometimes promotional prices stick around. DT had a promo to reduce extended license prices for a month a two (a while back) but they just kept the promotional pricing and made it permanent.

Yes, I am seeing this too. Not surprising though.

The 123RF site works pretty well and looks slick. The Fotolia site basically had no search for 2 months after V2.0, and to this day seems inconsistent. And it has the word "Suscribe" on the front page. If I was a buyer, I wouldn't give the site a second look.

New version to add Canstock (really cheap, and even then my sales there are nearly nothing). I've always referred to it as CanStockPhoto (for Canstockphoto), and Crestock as CS.
