Hi folks,

I wonder if does it worth to sell your work directly setting your own site?
I mean, I have heard about Symbiostock theme or other themes. So I have do questions:

1. How are your sales doing in your own site (Symbiostock/Other theme) monthly compared to the big 4 Top tier?
2. Does it worth to spend time setting it and uploading all your portfolio to your own site, keywording, adding categories, prices and so on instead of using the time to upload to the big 4 top tier?

Thanks in advance and have a great week.

I make 1 sale on my own site and its in the top 4, mainly because SS is 70% of my sales. But also because I charge 23 dollar for a large size and I get 100%. If I make 3 sales per month its my second earner. If I make 15 sales per month it my number 1 site.

As for uploading, its the same amount of time as uploading to the agencies. All data is embedded in the image (IPTC) so you dont have to do it again.

It's worth it to me. Everybody's results will be different though.

My motto is: if I don't try, I will never know.

I set up my site with 2200+ images, now tweaking and improving the site whenever I have time left. So it's now a side project. Depending on how many images you plan on uploading it will take you a couple weeks to get started.

Once you're included in the network, which is the most important part in my opinion, you can take it slow and work on your site whenever you have time.

Only time will tell if it's going to work out or not.

Sold one for $250 last month, but that doesn't happen every month.

I'll find out in November when I have some time to install Symbiostock. Looking forward to that project.

Exactly my take. IMHO there's a much better chance to succeed with Symbiostock then there is with any other self-hosting option out there.

Here's what I believe:

If we are all determined to succeed personally and to make the Symbiostock network succeed, then we and it will likely succeed.

If we are all willing to do the hard work to set our sites up right, then we and SYS will succeed.

If we all have a long-term perspective and determination to stick it out through the slow-start period, then we and SYS will succeed.

Personally, I'm in this for the long run. I'm doing my best to make my site a good one. And I don't intend to drop out if mega-sales don't happen right away.

I'm determined to make this work. If enough of the rest of you are determined, it will work for all of us.
