So, since the middle of last week I am out of a job... :-\ and I was cruising hotjobs.com looking for a new one when I came across this posting;

http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/job-J0ALKLTGGO8;_ylt=AvO4G10jfJIvtR0VHVj0DYr6Q6IX?source=SRP [nofollow]

I thought that was funny because I just became aware of the microstock thing (and this website) a few weeks ago.
The job posting itself advertised the website www.iPaidPhoto.com [nofollow]. When you click on it it will either link to;

http://solidworkgroup.com/email/form.html [nofollow] (just a form wanting basic info)

or

http://moneymakingpeople.com/?p=11 [nofollow] (nothing more than a blog entry with a few dozen comments)

It seems like a complete scam and not being able to find anything here about www.ipaidphoto.com [nofollow] kinda confirms that. Does anyone else know about this site? Or is this a common scam that I am just not aware of at this point?

Sorry to hear about your job, Sid - I hope things work out for you.

This isn't a scam per se, it's just somebody trying to make money by giving out information that's readily available without cost. Send him/her $40 and you'll get a list of agencies, examples of shots that sell well, who pays the most, etc. Honest and above-board info to be sure, but anyone who takes the time to look into it at all will find the same info for free. FWIW, I agree with the first selling points: (except for the competitiveness and backstabbing part)

It's a career that allows me:

To take vacations to wherever I want, whenever I want, for as long as I want!
To have total job security!
To decide what my work hours are. If I want to stop working early one day, its my decision!
To finally escape the competitiveness, the backstabbing, and the long hours of the rat race!
To spend much more time with my family!

Ahh, that makes sense. Thanks for the info. Yeah, the job situation isn't the greatest but I live in Dallas and I am fairly skilled, it shouldn't be too long before I am back on my feet.

Yeah, I have always been interested in, and halfway decent at photography and decided a few weeks ago that I wanted to pick up a DSLR after messing around with a friends for the weekend. I have already spent thousands on my existing hobby (mountain biking) and decided that showing the wife the possibility of turning a profit on a new hobby would help persuade her into signing off on the deal. I guess it will have to wait a little longer at this point though.
