Being from Southern California, my port is understandably devoid of much in the way of winter themes.
I have however recently uploaded some winter 'concept' shots that are not getting much attention as of yet.

So, my question is: at what point in the year do people normally see winter/xmas themed images start to move?

I have no general winter, but quite a few Christmas images (mostly food), and I've noticed that they start picking up with a few ELs in July/August (probably for Christmas cards, I suppose), and the sales grow from September on, October/early November being the peak. And they sell right up till Christmas. This holds mostly for Fotolia, where a lot of those images are exclusive. I've heard many people say that Christmas images sell all the year round, but I haven't made that experience - January till July mine sit on the shelf.

I'd say Pheby was spot on there. That's my experience too, across a number of agencies.

It's hard to tell. Once I had an Easter image sell in July. I've been selling Christmas and Winter type vectors since I think either June or July. I also had a 4th July image sell in August so best bet is that it's unpredictible but they do sell more starting in late August and so far as my experience through October. Wouldn't hurt to get a few more in your port.
