I've been getting prints from White House Custom Color and they're usually fine. Recently though I did some photos of subjects with a lot of strong primary colors and color gradients, and found out that WHCC's process has limitations of color gamut, particularly in the yellows, that were too obvious for these images, even causing posterizing in some areas. I can't easily work around this with post-processing; the colors are what they are.
I have a friend with an Epson 3880 and I compared soft proofs with his ICC profiles to proofs using WHCC's profiles. And I saw that the 3880 would do a much better job on this print. I also tried profiles for the Epson 7900/9900. Same thing - much better gamut, for my purposes.
I think I want to find an online service that does high-end inkjet prints.
Any suggestions?
