have they?  cause I had a private mail from a buyer wanting pictures in XXl size of trucks on motorways, right-hand drive, etc, he is a regular and had seen them before but now he said he couldnt find them.

I mean, jeez!  they have just witnessed the incredible troubles IS just gone through with best match changes, so dont tell me they too have changed the search, if so I surrender, I finally give up.

Do you mean very recently or the last month or two?  My sales tanked completely there the last couple of months. It has gone from 1st  place in earnings to 4th place after the earning dropping by about 50% so there has been a real 'best match' change.

I dont know?  the search I was used to made a lot of money for many! so why would they change a winning formula? seams crazy to me. The kind of shots I supply is specialized Industry and transport, buyers, very, very often make contact with me asking for perhaps a high-res or whatever, happens all the time with Fotolia, IS, Shutterstock, etc, so when they cant find my shots?  well it kind of makes me nervous.

Mine crashed in January and have been declining month by month since then. Last week there were very modest signs of a recovery.

Jeez!  they must surely see how things are going,  so why are they changing it for no reason at all?

I believe it is constantly changing.  I think it was last December or so they changed things around so the more recent images would be prominently displayed (before it was a constant complaint that only old images sold).  Whenever I check my portfolio, page 1 is a bit different which tells me the search is always shifting a bit to provide buyers with more diversity when they are looking for an image.

Mat

Hi Mat!  how goes?

Well I dont mind diversity! all for it!  but when a full page of Trucks on Highways have just dissapeared and replaced by other trucks on Highways, so a buyer mail me asking where the shots have evaporatged to? I told him to look closer, he did, then I did, and sure enough, gone with the wind.
Hardly diversity, is it. I mean where they are NOW, I might as well remove them, serves no purpose at all, just fillouts.

I guess that was when they sliced 60% off my monthly earnings. That plus the huge cut in commissions, the deceit and the ever more distant next "level" has actually had me thinking of pulling my portfolio from there.

My Fotolia sales dipped since January.  Before that, my 7 day ranking was consistently between 30-60.  Since the change, it went to well over 100, and I just couldn't see why.  :'(  FT has dropped from #2 to #3 earner for me.  There's been a bit of an improvement in the last few days, so I just hope the pendulum will swing back again.

So glad you posted!  I am in exactly the same situation!  7 days rank was always 20-45ish and now over 100.  Thought it was just me and that my images had lost their appeal.

I've been hit much worse.  I've gone from an average weekly rank of about 50 - 70 right down to nearly 500th place in just a couple of months!!!!!!

Add me to the list of people who sales on Fotolia have plummeted recently, my sales last month were lower than the same month last year and Fotolia was the only site where that happened - the busiest month of the year, great timing thanks Fotolia.

Edited to add ^ - My rank has dropped to the 300's

My weekly rank was somewhere around 150, now it's dropped down to over 700. My sales have tanked, and with the commission cut on top of that, March 2011 earnings were down almost 50% from March 2010. Things started going downhill around the end of 2010, beginning of 2011.

Yeah, I'm not too fond of the change myself.  It's had a significant (negative) impact on my sales unfortunately.  Hopefully it will be like it's been in the past when the change to the search impacts negatively, then the next shift is positive.  My fingers are crossed.

Not sure about the $2.50 subs.  I'll ask Chad next time I talk to him.

Mat

Hi Mat!

Just, why would anybody want to pursue a negative search?  lost me.

best. Chris

My losing you has lost me.  :)

I meant that the change in the search engine has decreased my sales over the past couple of months.  I am hoping that when it changes again, my sales will begin to increase again.
