Sales compared to other contributors I guess.
Weekly - 12,950 Overall - 11,800
Used to be around the 3,500 mark but dropped since Adobe joined the game!

I think it's related to your approval ratio and your weekly/overall sales.

Weekly: 6400
Overall: 61000

Microstock is a solitary occupation where real contact is rare and information is hard to come by without some effort.

Unlike a "day job" where fellow workers can communicate in person and collate and discuss different aspects of their job.

Data of any kind about this process of Microstock can be perceived by some as useful in varying degrees and can sometimes be a spur to contine producing output in an otherwise almost thankless task.

And its fun.

So there.

ps i bet mines bigger than yours  ;)

Just, please don't put it on the table. :)

I think, what madman wanted to know is: what is this ranking good for?

It mirrors your performance compared to others, as Steveball said.
When you are new, your overall rank is small (big number). As you upload more images, almost each time, your overall rank grows (number decreases). There may be some other factor (sales) taken in consideration here.

Weekly rank is very "jumpy", when you sell more, weekly rank increases, sell less, it decreases (bigger number).

At least, this is my observation throughout.

I did and I agree with you in that more clients can share a rank . The numbers there are interesting info but out of that, nothing conclusive there as long as we don't know details about each case like how regularly do they upload, port size, ......
I'm not talking about the upper 50 contributors like you. I just shared my own observations on my own port, if you don't mind.

Overall: 11,700 yesterday
             11,650 today (I just uploaded)
Weekly:  4,900 down from 3,000 since a month and half.

Hey, no worries Dodie, I don't mind at all.

Madman wanted to see if people would post their ranks which some did including me.

My reply then was to Thomas from France asking effectively why we do this (compare each others ranks) and made a joke about size comparison which is why i joked back.

I'm not in the upper 50 contributors but I would assume the same rules apply to them as well as us in regards to weekly and overall ranking. Why wouldn't it?

I love jokes too, I even joked back but I thought this was addressed to me, my bad.

What I meant to say was that up there the "fight" is probably more tight than down here.

@Dodie
We're on the same page. I'm in the middle of a teeth grindingly awful bout of having to do my accounts at the moment, its Friday and I'm probably not paying attention like I should.  :)

I think you are right, the rankings once you get higher must be more nerve racking.

I flinch when my overall ranking drops by a couple of points, and my weekly rankings can fluctuate by a few hundred points bringing me out in a cold sweat (which is usually calmed by a good strong cup of coffee)

Not exactly, I know nothing about the rule, apparently you do.

Anyway, that's a terrible state you are picturing above (even when it's irony), so I'll put an end to our refreshing chat now and put you out of your misery. :)

Bottom line is that if your weekly rank is higher in position  than your all time rank then things are improving for you - relatively. Obviously if the site is going down the tubes it doesn't do you much good!
