hi matt,only the content from selected artists will be available on the free collection??what about content submitted by artists that will not be selected for the fund??

“Self-identifying artists from underrepresented communities” are creators who identify as being part of an underrepresented community, such as: Black, Hispanic & Latinx, Asian/Pacific Islander, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, Female, Disability, Age, Veteran, Religion, Body & Skin Type."

seems the only folk left out are self-identifying cis white young atheist males!

are all religions underrepresented? what is a self identifying female?

There are lots of male veterans (over 1 million in the US only) under the age of 34 so they are not left out.

Yes, all religions are underrepresented in stock imagery and mainstream media/advertising. There is a lack of contemporary, high quality, accurate, and engaging stock imagery depicting religious people, families, practices, rituals, objects, etc.

funding and developing artists is an excellent endeavor, but will have only a minor effect on coverage of under-represented populations. are the editorial rules going to be changed either overall or for this project? much religious content ( and other categories) will have many non-released images - it's not reasonable to get model releases for church, mosque or temple services and currently many interior images without people are also rejected when they could be accepted with a more relaxed editorial policy

also, will there be a separate submission processes for the many of us who are not selected but have coverage of these areas that AS has neglected until now due to those editorial limitations?

I'm with cascoly here.

Minority agenda is forced on everybody these days. Where is modern imagery of average folks, consumers who go to work, and who actually buy stuff, and who do not think of their identities, sexuality, heritage and past lives every minute?

I think it's about building a portfolio with a broader representation of various demographics. Showing more than "pretty young white men and women". Since the world is not entirely populated by such people, making other options available is just good marketing, whatever anyone might think about politics or social awareness.

that's the point - it's a minority group is vastly over represented - and with India & China's growing middle class et al. there's a larger underserved market

while supporting a few, they're missing the much larger group of folk who could also participate by just opening up the editorial rules to match what other agencies accept
