A press release from DepositPhotos..

Depositphotos Stock Photo Agency Introduces New Pay-As-You-Go Pricing

Pay-as-you-go prices are raised, subscription prices remain the same

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 13 Oct. 2011
Depositphotos, the fastest-growing stock photo agency in the world, introduces a new pricing model.
This scheduled change affects pay-as-you-go pricing, while subscription pricing remains the same. Photographers receive a level rating, based upon their total sales. Image prices, once dependent only on the size of the image, now also increase as the photographers level increases. While photographers commission rates remain the same, photographers at higher levels will receive increased royalties due to the higher pricing of images at their level.

With the new pay-as-you-go pricing model, Depositphotos expands the list of countries where the pay-by-SMS method works. Panama, Hong Kong and New Zealand have been added to the list; SMS payments in Italy will become available in a few weeks.
The Buyers Menu has received a facelift; the background of opened tabs is shaded, so now it is easier for users to see where they are in the menu structure. Depositphotos also eases the process of purchasing credits and subscriptions; each time a buyer logs in, his welcome screen
offers to make a purchase if needed.

We introduced this new pricing model to stimulate contributors to upload and sell more
images. In addition, this change is designed to attract those contributors who had previously
dismissed Depositphotos as a low-earning agency, says Igor Kalyuzhny, Head of Depositphotos
departments in Eastern and Western Europe.

Interesting.  Very good news.  I am a relative newbie on DP, but nice to know there is some chance of advancement.

Seems likely this is a way to reward higher earners and keep them from running afoul of the new FT "return to white rank" program.

I'll go back up and read Leaf's post in a moment.  Here's the ranking levels.

Okay went and read the first post.  Sounds good hopefully that will squash FTs plans for return to start (which, eventhough I'm not affected by it, is still just rude).

Have they implemented that plan yet or is it for release at a later date?

Well I already don't like their math skills.
If I have 467 sales why do I need 237 more to reach the next level (supposedly Bronze is from 501 up)

Do they count subs as one download or are they doing that the FT way as well?

While we are on the topic of DepositPhotos pricing, I got this email from them today, about a sale. Since I've only gotten subs up to this point and had very few files with them I haven't had much activity.

So the email starts out:

"DepositPhotos: File Sold by Bonus"

The email looks like regular none sub "M" sized file that sold for $2.00.

What's throwing me here is the word "bonus". Is this a bonus for something or  just cute language they are using for a regular download.

Thx

no, it is a promotion, like a discount that they gave to "potential/future" buyers
