I logged on to BS few minutes ago and I had a message that the prices will go up in November. No more information given except that the price increase will be mostly for large sizes (same as IS and FT, they will probably introduce xSmall picture size).

The only question is weather the contributors will get a raise.

Well , I just logged to Bigstock after long time and I saw I had few 2$ sales , so I think it started.

Judging from last 2 days sales , Bigstock could bring a nice surprise  this month

As announced a couple months ago, credit prices per image have changed.

We now offer up to 4 image sizes:
Small: 900x675 px = 1 credit
Medium: 1600x1200 px = 2 credits
Large: 2800x1800 px = 4 credits
Extra large: 3800x2900 px and larger = 6 credits

Image sizes vary somewhat based on their original sizes, some being as small as 600px and other being as large as 5000px.

Our prices have been considerably under market rates for over a year, and we are still the lowest cost provider of high quality stock images. Our small images are up 200% the size of what our competitors offer, and our largest images are 40% cheaper than what our competitors offer for the same size images.

Users who do not need high end large images can still download for the same prices as before - 1 or 2 credits for small and medium images.

These are more than you will need for most purposes. If you are doing higher end print or large scale print, you will need the 4 or 6 credit large or extra large images usually.

Special Licenses and Special License pricing will not be affected by this change at all.

Thank you very much to all BigStockPhoto users for your understanding and patronage. We sincerely regret any increase but it will allow us to keep pace with our ability to provide you the best possible images and services.

For Photographers and Artists:
-----------------------------------
Photographers and artists still receive 50 cents per credit spent. We have not raised or lowered credit prices, only the number of credits that images cost.

Since the average credit cost per image will rise, so should your commissions.

BigStockPhoto still pays from 20% to 50% commission on each sale, depending on what the user paid for their credits, which is among the highest industry payouts.

Thanks again to all contributors for growing with us, we sincerely appreciate it.

I was very surprised (and pleased) to see a $3 commission yesterday.  I didn't quite understand why, but the announcement above explains it all.

Looking back at my history of sales at BigStock, the list is almost all 50c and $1.  It's quite possible that these price increases will result in a 50% to 100% increase in overall commissions for contributing photographers.  Very good news.  Lets hope the sales are maintained at these higher prices.

Fotolia prices are too low.  I'd like to see them raise prices (and commissions) by 20% - 50%.

Just had a $3 sale! Bigstock is securing it spot in the top 6 for me at least.

yeah i am surprised that so many people have voted 123RF as higher than bigstock.  For me, bigstock almost earns 2x what 123RF does.

Bizarre how some sites pass to subscriptions and others rise their prices. Do they do this to attract more contributers? Or just adjust to the economy (inflation for example)?

I haven't seen an increase in earnings at all.

Both BigStock and 123 have a long way to go before I earn even $100 per month from them. For me it's almost a battle of "who cares?".

For me 123rf earns much more than BigStock with the same potfolio.

I still have only US$0.50 and 1.00 sales, but BigStock is doing well this month.  Not extraordinary, but possibly making more than in the past 6 months, if the current trend continues.

123RF?  Always a low earner for me, but above CanStockPhoto, CS and often LO.

Adelaide

So nice to see these $3 sales.  Another today.  Bumps the average $/DL up quite a bit.

Even so, BigStock is still a very low earner for me - I've yet to pass the very low $50 per month mark!

It's $30 USD I believe.  I have passed it twice, but after a red-hot September and October I have hit the wall in November.

I went back and checked my earnings log.  All of my sales have been for $0.50 and $1.00 since I got there, and nothing has changed since the price increase.  I'm shooting with an 8.2 MP 30D, so that's not the problem.  I just get an overabundance of small/medium sales at BigStock.  Which basically means, I don't get the big pay raise that everyone else seems to be getting.
