I just had about 20 more sales for 12 cents gross.  They were all distributor sales netting 3 cents each.  Country is not disclosed and there is no info whether these were novel scheme sales.

It is soon April and that is the time period to opt out of various sales categories.  There is novel scheme sales to consider, distributor sales and sales to different countries.

I would like to opt out of all those penny sales without losing any good sales.

I plan to opt out of novel scheme and China + Russia.  But the 20 distributor penny sales from yesterday did not disclose a country.  I think that is deliberate from Alamy.

What would be the optimal strategy here?

Same problem.. I stopped uploading pictures as soon as I had the first such sales, couple of month ago. Next month I will try to get out of all those "profitable" sales. If I still have such sales, Alamy will have the same fate for me as Shutterstock ... I'll delete the account and that's it.
Eventually, solutions will be found for us as well. Everything is cyclical. I hope  :D

I am 99% sure I opted out of sales from China last April (don't know where to look it up as I can never find these settings in my account and have to rely on someone giving me a link) and still got a lot of 0.15 cent sales in December from China.

From your dashboard:
Click: additional revenue options.
From there you'll see if you are 'in' or 'out' of Distribution, Novel Use and Image Options.
If you are not 'out' of all Distribution, click on 'Distribution' to see which 'territories' you're opted into.
You may have to drill down further into the continent links to see which individual countries you're currently 'in' and 'out' of.

FWIW, I've always been out of NU, but I seem to be 'in' China, and so far I have none of these mega-tiny sales from China (plenty 'tiny-enough' sales from other places). Maybe the Chinese just don't like my photos.

December dump was speculated for 12 months, so sale may have been prior to opt-out

Finally had my first Alamy sales of the year yesterday. 26 sales most of which were 12 cents with a couple slightly higher up to just over a dollar. Given the small percentage rate it is worse than shutterstock. I only stay with them for the odd big sale but they are few and far between.

I had several of these today. I'll be opting out of all distribution in april and I hope more people will do the same. I've been opted in since 2011. Alamy went from macro straight to nano

I'll be opting out of China; but I suspect if we all do it, we'll all be opted in, like we were into what used to be the 'UK Newspaper Scheme', which used to be opt-outable of.

I think this is general issue - what is the lowest price you are willing to accept?  It makes little sense to try to block Novel, Distro etc on Alamy, but accept 10 cent on SS, or penny fractions on IS for same asset. If the threshold is say 1 dollar, it leaves Alamy only (assuming it is possible to block penny sales).  If the threshold is 30 cents, then pull your port only from IS and SS. Etc etc

I got one of these nano DLs on Alamy yesterday too -- 0.23 gross. Makes for quite a wild month there,  0.23 - 1850.00. But as long as there are large sales, even if occasional, it is more than worth supporting Alamy, also making high quality shots exclusive to them

I will opt out all distributors. All of them.  Opting back in is possible anytime anyway, but I don't think there will be any regrets.

I closed my account as soon as the penny sales showed up.  Done with Alamy, done with microstock.  I feel great about not being ripped off like this anymore.  But, I didn't need the small amount of money I was making.  Everyone has his own situation to consider.

This is probably the only sure way to opt out Alamy penny sales.

No need to deal with the ridiculous refunds, either.

The only game where the quitters are the real winners.

Just a reminder: the ability to opt out of all Distributor sales, or specific countries, is now open.
April is the only time we can opt out.

I opted out all of distribution today. What a happy day! :)

How soon do you think these opt-outs will be updated and effective with the worldwide distributors?

there are several Alamy threads floating around, so I'll post here.  Want to share a tip

Last 6 months or so I've been updating keywords, mostly for my older images when I didn't know how to do it properly.  As result my CTR (click through rate) has gone considerably up.  It is believed CTR impacts Alamy rank;  and lately I've been getting way more sales.   Today, April 1, just got 1st sale of Month, nothing to get excited 19.99 gross, but still

Tip is:  Pay attention to Alamy measures.  These are real search terms, real customers, not AI generated suggestions they serve in other Micros.  Proper keywording is essential tool of the trade, but I have strong feeling for Alamy more important than elsewhere.  And pay special attention to title / super tags;  these have the heaviest weight, similar to first 10 at Adobe - just that with Alamy you have way more freedom than with Adobe

I opted out of china years ago and they still sold my images to china.  They apologised and promised 100% of the pennies the sales earned.

Still waiting for the refund  :-\

Done, opted out of all distribution. They don't bring much anyway compared to regular sales. Just being an eyesore and source of demotivation.

Could you elaborate more on your communication with them please. This doesn't look right

WTH, I got a lot of 1c sales and tried to opt out of distribution. It says I can't until April?

Yes, you can only opt out of distributor and novel use sales in April.
But people who opted out reported they still get these sales. I do too, though I only opted out of novel use and distributor sales from certain countries like china.

What a nightmare. Absolutely could not have expected this kind of sale from Alamy when I agreed to this years ago.
