Heads up, watch your payment carefully!!! - Edited to alert other contributors.

Usually I would receive an Alamy payment on or before the 10th of the month. Alamy also says that the payment would take up to 10 days to arrive.

Today is the 12th. I still have not received it.

Has anyone got it?

Yes, I got mine on the 10th. However, please note that it says "You should receive payment within 9 working days", so not inclusing saturdays and sundays. It has exactly been 9 bussiness days the 1st. I think I have gotten my Alamy payment later thanthe 10th in the past.

It's the end of 9th working day now.

This has never happened to me since I became a contributor more than a dozen years ago. I worry that my account is somehow compromised.

I can not find the page where you can choose your payment method. Does anyone know?

I am using different emails for communication and payment.

Mine hit my bank account on the 5th.

Not sure how you change it, there's a tab 'account settings' on your dashboard, I'm not sure if that would do it.

Wow, there is a fraud!

I managed to find out how to get into the webpage for the method of payment.

It was switched to "bank account transfer". My email address was removed.

What shocks me is that Alamy did not send me an email to tell me about the change.

They're having a lot of IT problems at the moment.

I presume you've contacted Support already.

Let's hope it's incompetence rather than malice (fraud).

Yes, I sent three emails to Alamy. First two were making inquiries. The last one was to report the fraud.

I am pretty certain it was fraud, because my payment email was removed, and payment method became bank transfer. Alamy has never had my banking info.

Do you know how Alamy would deal with issues like that?

Alamy has replied.

The good news is that the money is not missing. The bad news is that the payment is delayed until the 18th. No reason was given.

Hi

You are receiving this email as you are due to receive an Alamy payment this month via PayPal.

Unfortunately we are experiencing a few issues with PayPal so there will be a slight delay with receiving your payment. Dont worry though, we will be completing the processing of payments by the 18th August.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Thanks,

Alamy contributor relations

It's after 5 pm New York City time. No payment has arrived from Alamy.

Alamy support promised that we would get paid by the 18th. That's today.

Did you get paid?

Alamy responded today, saying all payments were made yesterday.

But I have not received mine.

For my 16 years with multiple agencies, this is the first time my payment has gone missing.

Thanks for the reply. When did you get yours?

I have not heard anything back from Alamy after reporting that the payment was not received.

Today Alamy support says: "Were just checking with our finance team about this."

I initiated the contact on August 12, it has been 8 days. The support is just checking with its finance team.

This has become a joke.

An update again.

Today Alamy support said that they were still waiting for the finance team to get back to them.

Is it capable of doing the honorable thing?

Hi there,

Calling this fraud etc is a touch strong I feel - this was an issue with Paypal and the way they updated the security settings around how they process our payments. Once we knew the scope of the delay, we've emailed all those paid via paypal to update them about the delay.

We've checked this payment for you and can see it has been sent. We enquired with Paypal and they confirmed the funds are there but they haven't yet been claimed by you. A screenshot was sent to you earlier from the CR team.

Best wishes

James Allsworth
Head of Content

All anyone has to do is email Alamy. I did. Was very polite and got a very polite email back saying that they are having technical issues but give us a day or two.  Low and behold my payment came through a day or two late.  No biggie.

Hi James,

I found it unconvincing that Paypal would change my email address on its own.

It was Alamy which sent the payment to this abandoned email, wasn't it true?

The most strange thing is, if my payment email was changed, why didn't Alamy send me an alert?

Please forward my email to Madam Emily Shelley, if you are still looking at this thread.

Is Alamy secure and competent? Is Alamy still a responsibly company?

Here is the email. Thanks.

Attention: Madam Emily Shelley
Managing Director, Alamy

Dear Madam Shelley:

Recently my Alamy payment went missing, although Alamy webpage shows that it was initiated on August 2, 2021.

Since August 12, I have sent many emails to Alamy support to report this issue.

Today, after 13 days, an email from Shannon of Alamy support said the payment was sent to an email address which was abandoned many years ago.

Shannon seems to suggest that Alamy will not pay me until the payment is returned (as unclaimed) by Paypal after 30 days.

First, from who and where did Alamy get the authorization to send my payment to this abandoned email address? Is it fraud or incompetence? Is Alamy secure??

Then, why should I not be paid immediately when it is clearly Alamy's fault?

I ask that you investigate the issue and make immediate payment to me, with a due apology.

It is totally disheartening to be treated so unfairly and irresponsibly after being a contributor for more than 14 years.

Kind regards,

Note: Sorry I had to edit a few times for spelling mistakes as I was upset.

Thank you Alamy for coming on the site--- we see less and less companies communicating with us.

For real?

I would have appreciated honest communication and prompt action.

By the way, Sue, I did open a forum account to bring this matter to the attention of management. I particularly asked for a contact person.

But my message has been pending for approval since August 20. It does not look like it would get approved.

Oh, I didn't realise you had to be approved for the forum. I thought you were automatically accepted for the forum if you are a verified contributor.
They do allow critical posts. There were several posts about the payment issue, there are threads about the recent rate cuts and contract terms (now locked following hundreds of posts), and lost of individual posts complaining that they get more $$ and their service is poor. I myself have two recent threads about them not chasing up infringments.
However, maybe with the red mist, maybe your posting was worded 'in the heat of the moment'.
You can find the MD's email in the first contract change thread. I emailled her about the removal of benefits to exclusive images, and she (or a minion!) replied quickly.

Alamy has no further response today.

It was Alamy which sent the payment to my abandoned email address through Paypal, without authorization and notice to me. How can it blame Paypal for its mistake?

After realizing that it made a mistake, why is it so difficult to correct it? Is it fair to let a contributor wait until the money is returned as unclaimed through Paypal after 30 days?

Sue, after creating an account, I can access the forum. But my message has not been approved so other members cannot see it.

I've never heard of that: my posts go live as soon as I write them whether new threads or posts in other threads. Must be new, or some mistake.

I am thankful that Leaf gives us this forum.

Looks like all mistakes come my way.  :P
