Anyone having good sale with stockimo lately?

Old Thread but that's what comes up on top in the search here.

Anybody still working Stockimo through Alamy? Any success at all? It seems to be iPhone only app 50% and more for news then anything else. Can I upload from my camera, using iPhone? That would mean better photos from a DSLR but uploaded using the iPhone or iPad as the IOS software for sending.

Anyone know anything new about Stockimo? It seems a couple years since the last post.

You can use other phones but not a DSLR.  Still have to upload using an apple product and I'm allergic to them, so I gave up.  The other thing that put me off was when they started putting the photos on Shutterstock, I might as well upload to them direct and get the full payment.  I wasn't impressed by the sales people were talking about in the Alamy forum.  If they ever bring out an android app, I will probably submit again but they need an opt out for Shutterstock and any other sites I would rather supply direct.

Yes I'm bringing this thread back from the grave. That is, rather than start another one about the same questions.

www.stockimo.com/   and   http://www.stockimo.com/terms.html

From the terms "We'll pay you 20% of every sale you make." but it also says, existing Alamy contributors get 50% which makes me wonder, what's happening with the new Alamy terms? Everything 20%?

Type of Contributor    Your share    Stockimo share
Early Bird Contributor    40%    60%
New Contributor    20%    80%
Existing Alamy Contributor    50%    50%

All percentages in the table above relate to the % share of Net Revenue

I don't have many uploads and when I did a search, using descriptions and keywords, I couldn't find my own images, so I don't even know how they are displayed for buyers on Alamy?

Anyone else have anything new in the last five years? Seems like a limited interest subject? And if anyone missed the big killer, iPhone and Apple tablets only, no Android version.

Edited to add:  https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Stockimo  Stockimo on Shutterstock, now that's getting hard to imagine when someone gets a download for 10 cents, and Stockimo pays 20%, wow a 2c credit? I'm thrilled at the prospects. (NOT)

I think that has convinced me that a better iPhone or a tablet, isn't going to give me the returns that I thought might be possible.

So the other question if anyone knows. Aside from having a special account on SSTK, I tried to find mine on Alamy using descriptions and keywords and never could locate any of mine. Where are they? There's no Stockimo site and they are supposed to be for license on Alamy, somewhere?

What am I doing wrong? Besides uploading to Stockimo  ;D

Have had a handful of sales with Stockimo, mostly artsy but some editorial too. Most recently, two licenses in 2021, with 138 images, net ranges from $2.64-$25. One image has sold twice (artsy). Fun app. But easier to make $ on Alamy.

Pete, I find it tricky to find my pix on Alamy sometimes too, even when I search using the dropdown "mobile"  - I usually have to try different keyword combos. Not sure why.

Not getting any penny sales, so don't know how the shutterstock thing works. You can't opt out from distribution on Stockimo as far as I know, but who would want to opt out from US distributors, which is what you'd have to do?

Thank you, I did do some more searching and using specific title words, I did find my images on Alamy. I wasn't sure if Stockimo had it's own site, and it doesn't. That's what I wondered, they are there on Alamy and I suppose available for image packs and subscriptions?

Just funny that I think the image designation kind of says what I think it looks like?  ;)  Image ID: S1H1T5
and finding others, Image ID: S3JAGJ and Image ID: S384DW are also mine and it appears that the S is for Stockimo.

Personal use
$ 19.99
Presentation or newsletters
$ 19.99
Website
$ 49.99
Magazines and books
$ 69.99
(there are more)

Still I wonder where the cheap sales are coming from. Some examples of the pack pricing.

Presentation or newsletters
5 pack $16.80 per download
$83.99

10 pack $14.90 per download
$148.99
25 pack $13.96 per download
$348.99

Website
5 pack $42.40 per download
$211.99
10 pack $37.40 per download
$373.99
25 pack $34.96 per download
$873.99

Alamy prices for their big clients are sometimes lower than the calculator, they have bulk deals. When Stockimo started they were all $50, and Alamy contributors got 50%. Now most are lower - especially to newspapers. One of my Stockimo images appeared in about 10-15 newspapers around the country and online circa. 2020 - I netted $7.50 as if it was one license, since it went to a large group that owns local papers around the country.

But I enjoy playing with my phone pix and it's a fun creative outlet.

Alamy is pretty funny. They don't want people taking about Stockimo on the forum. Some posts are left, but others are purged as it's not an Alamy topic. Stockimo seems to have some presence, Facebook and Twitter. But the latest discussion on Alamy was locked, as usual, cleaned and people are told to contact Stockimo support.

What was cleaned and purged?  https://stockimoartists.proboards.com/  A private forum for Stockimo Artists to discuss things about Stockimo. The link was up less than a week on Alamy forums.

If there's actually no interest, the forum will be closed, but at least there's someplace for artists to discuss ideas, what they upload and what they think?

Alamy Stockimo Forum

Just in case anyone is interested. If not, then I'll pull the plug on this one.  https://stockimoartists.proboards.com/

A couple people came to visit but like everything else forum, if there's no activity, people won't keep checking back.

The reason for starting a forum was for discussion between people and answers. Anyone could come here just as well and maybe even better. But any discussion on Alamy will get locked or removed as the two are not the same. I guess Alamy owning Stockimo isn't enough that they want to promote SM on AL? I don't know, I don't understand.

No one is saying Android isn't a popular platform, but what we are saying is that with the photographers we work with, Apple iOS is far more popular.

well, the reason for that is photographers who use Android platform CANNOT use it so do not bother.

I'd agree. The whole idea of ignoring a large part of the possible suppliers?

"Androids outnumber iPhones 3 to 1 in the worldwide market. US numbers differ with the iPhone leading with a 55% market share compared to Androids 44%."

I didn't switch to the iPhone, and make a note, I'm still using my SE 2016. For another work related app I had to have one. Also many of the online applications that I had issues with on Android, work flawlessly on the iPhone. Banking for one.

If I was going to chose a phone for photos, it wouldn't be an iPhone. Sure they are nice and make good photos, but the Android phones are equal and some are better at producing quality large images.

So I'm not a Fanboy of Alamy, Stockimo or one of the Apple mind numb blind followers. It just worked for some necessary applications. Oh and it's a phone!  ;D

The idea of the forum was, people ask questions on the Alamy form and they are locked or deleted. I thought that people who want to know, should have a place to exchange information. Nothing more.

ps I have 11 photos on Stockimo. I wouldn't want to be an over achiever in that kind of thing. Just for fun app and entertainment.

Thanks for setting up the board Pete - I joined.
Haven't been active on Stockimo in quite a while but nice to have a place to discuss it. It's good to have a place for experimental images. And I've sold mostly filtered ones there - though some straight editorial too. Only have 138 photos there so not overachieving either.  8)

I wish there were about ten people who one way or another had some ideas and wanted to discuss things. Still the same, no people, no forum.  :(

Thanks!

We could do the same thing here and not waste the space and the special interest group.  8)

Good idea doing it here? I'm still waiting for the android app. Did buy an old iPhone, but I hate it, just can't be motivated to use it.

Waiting for the Android App? Like the Great Pumpkin or the Easter Bunny or maybe you had the Tooth Faerie visit?  :)

Someone came up with this great plan called Stockimo and if it was making the company loads of money, you might see an Android version. I suspect the whole citizen journalist theory and it's time has come and gone. It wasn't "the next big thing". You could try Clickasnap?

Alamy, Over the last few months weve been reviewing performance of the Stockimo app and thinking about future plans for ingesting mobile phone photography and weve come to the difficult decision to retire the app.

No kidding.

I guess I can go delete the forum, which Alamy removed any post or discussion of Stockimo or mentioning that there was someplace for people who were trying to be active, could interact.

Oh I got the email: "It's with heavy hearts that unfortunately weve made the difficult decision to retire the Stockimo app

Over the last few months, weve been reviewing the performance of the app and have ultimately decided to move in a different direction.

Although we will continue supporting existing Stockimo contributors like yourself.

Youll still be able to manage your uploaded photos and receive/review any sales, but we will NOT be accepting any new photo uploads from now on."

Does that mean, just the app? Crazy.
