There are a few things that you can do to increase sales on 123rf. I knew about the features, but never paid too much attention to them until recently. I've written about what difference it can make to sales if you take advantage of these features. My own results have been pleasantly surprising..

I don't think it is worth giving away free images on 123rf to increase sales there.  It has never been one of the higher earning sites.  Much better to concentrate on getting the most out of the big sites.  How much are you losing sales on the other sites when people see you are giving them away for free?  I know it is only small size but they sell on the other sites and some people don't mind resizing, however bad they look.

Yeah, valid points. But how much am I gaining (exposure) from having portfolios across the board, even with sites that don't earn as much. Also, how much does exposure of my portfolio increase from shots that are temporarily given for free. The fact is we don't know for sure. But when my images are downloaded with the use of paid credits or subs. whilst at the same time they are being offered for free, there is a good possibility that they were originally found by buyers from the free section. It's happened quite a few times. Having said that, I still don't give too many away and not usually for more than for 48 hours. Also I generally give images away which are not big sellers, or photos which probably wouldn't be accepted if submitted these days.
